Stoicism were Naturalist Philosophy

Quote
...Solomon ibn Gabirol, an eleventh-century Jewish philosopher, put it this way: "And they say : At the pinnacle of all understanding - is the awareness of what can and cannot be done, and considering what is not in our power to say it." Shantideva, an eighth-century Buddhist scholar, writes similarly: "Supposing there be a remedy when trouble strikes / What is the reason for refusing it? / And if there is no help for it / What is the use of grieving?"

But there is an even more ancient version: "Make the best of what is within your power, then let the rest happen. Some are up to our wishes, some are not. Our bodies are not up to us, nor are our property, our reputation, or our public office, or anything that is not our own doing". It is found in Epictetus' Enchiridion or Handbook, right at the beginning. Stoics later refined this idea of ethical development and called it oikeiosis, which is often translated as "customization to" or "adjustment to" other people's interests as if they were our own. ...

Answer :

Willingness to commit justice based on universalism and non-western socialism must be enforced to the world, regardless the people who don't want it are not the subject of our will. And we not want make adjustment to the interest of westerners as if they were our own. Grieving is part of awreness that the world is evil and the oppressor is evil, so we will resist the oppressor even though it must through grieving. How can we know that there are oppressors on this world if we not feel sad and grieving on their oppressive actions while we struggle to destroy them. Surprisingly, the writers not mention Islam as compatible religious teaching to Stoicism. Because Islam teaches people to control other people to not doing capitalism, racialism, and democracy, not let them being free only because they are cannot be on our subject of will
