True! Thanks for giving this some thought. I suppose we shan't be bees or faeries but a spot of gliding here and there can't hurt. Imagine: Light bones and gracile muscles, you spread your wings to take advantage of a gust of wind, carrying you effortlessly to the middle of your field, where you land gently on the soil to tend a wee plant. I shall call this the Mary Poppins model. It's possible the energy required to maintain extra appendages outweighs the energy saved by occasional gliding, however.
