The Iranian IRGC command centre said it had expected the United States to be better prepared than what it is witnessing on the battlefield. According to the Iranian assessment, Washington entered the war convinced that overwhelming firepower would compensate for the absence of strategic thinking. What has emerged instead, they argue, is a military machine capable of immense destruction but struggling to understand the nature of the war it has entered.
From the IRGC’s perspective, the United States possesses extraordinary military muscles but little strategic imagination. Iran’s response, carefully structured around regional escalation and asymmetric pressure, appears to have caught Washington by surprise. The shock, they say, is visible not only in the Pentagon but also in the political leadership that authorised the war without fully grasping the strategic environment it was stepping into.
Tehran insists it warned from the outset that the war would not remain limited or localised. Yet, according to Iranian officials, the American reaction suggests an extraordinarily slow process of adaptation. Each new development seems to force Washington to relearn the battlefield it thought it already controlled.
The conclusion drawn by the IRGC is blunt and deliberately provocative: overwhelming military strength does not automatically translate into strategic intelligence. “When a country builds too many muscles,” one Iranian official remarked, “it often leaves very little space for the brain.”

Damascus, March 9 (SANA) The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the Iranian attack that targeted a residential facility in al-Kharj city in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, killing two people and injuring others.
In a statement issued early Monday, the ministry expressed its “categorical rejection of any acts of aggression targeting civilians and residential areas,” calling for full respect of international laws and norms related to the protection of civilians.
The ministry reaffirmed the Syrian Arab Republic’s solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in this incident.
According to Saudi Civil Defense, two people were killed and 12 others injured on Sunday when a “military projectile” fell in Al Kharj, south of Riyadh. The projectile struck a residential site belonging to a maintenance and cleaning company, killing two workers of Indian and Bangladeshi nationality and injuring 12 others.
The incident comes as Iran continues launching strikes on Gulf states in response to the U.S.–Israeli attack on its territory.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said Türkiye is taking all necessary measures to safeguard its borders and airspace amid rising regional tensions, stressing that Ankara’s deterrence and defence capacity remain at their highest level.
“We are leaving nothing to chance when it comes to the security of our borders and airspace in these difficult times our region is going through,” Erdogan said on Wednesday.
The Turkish leader said Ankara was working closely with its NATO allies and stood ready to respond immediately to any threat.
“Türkiye is taking all necessary measures in close consultation with our NATO allies and responds immediately when required,” he said.
Erdogan’s remarks came after a ballistic munition fired from Iran and directed towards Turkish airspace was intercepted and neutralised by NATO air and missile defence units in the Eastern Mediterranean, according to the Turkish defence ministry.
Ankara later summoned Iran’s ambassador and conveyed its “strong protest” over the incident, while Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan raised the issue in a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi.
Strongest warnings
Referring to the incident, Erdogan said Türkiye had issued its strongest warnings to Iran to prevent similar developments in the future.
“Our determination and capacity to ensure the security of our country and our nation are at the highest level,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of deterrence, Erdogan said maintaining peace in Türkiye requires continuously strengthening the country’s defensive capabilities.
“If we as a nation want to live in peace and stability on these lands, which are our eternal homeland, we must continuously strengthen our deterrence,” Erdogan said.
The incident comes after joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran that killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, other senior officials and nearly 1,050 Iranians — including 165 schoolchildren — and prompted Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes across the region.
