Blair on Trudeau's 'maximum restraint' comments: PM 'concerned about innocent lives on both sides'

Quote

Despite Prime Minister Justin Trudeau urging the Israeli government to exercise "maximum restraint" in the war in Gaza, Canada's defence minister says it's wrong to believe that those comments suggest Israel is acting otherwise.

Defence Minister Bill Blair responded to a question about whether the Canadian government believes Israel is not exercising maximum restraint in its now six-week-long war with Hamas.

"The prime minister, quite understandably, is concerned about innocent lives on both sides of that border."

He added Canada has "every expectation" that Israel will respect international rules around armed conflicts.

"We've also been crystal clear: Israel has the right to defend itself," Blair said.

"They were attacked by a terrorist organization and they have a right to exist and, therefore, a right to defend themselves.

On Wednesday, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid also responded to Trudeau saying, "Israel is defending itself in difficult conditions against a brutal terrorist organization while trying to rescue babies, children, women and men who are being held hostage by Hamas-ISIS. Responsibility for this terrible situation rests with Hamas-ISIS."

Asked whether he believes Israel is exercising maximum restraint now, Blair said it would be "a mistake to engage in speculation or hypotheticals in the absence of evidence."

"I don't think the prime minister's remarks should be taken to suggest that we are somehow coming to a conclusion that is not based on evidence because we don't have that evidence before us. And we're not going to engage in speculation as to whether or not those rules are actually being adhered to. We're only simply encouraging Israel to understand and to reflect everyone's concerned about the innocent civilians that are being impacted by that conflict."

I'm on to you now jewry, I will enact my vengeance on you!!

I'm going to get rid of this internationalist plague from Canada.

Netanyahu rebukes Trudeau on social media for criticizing Israel over civilian casualties

Quote

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rebuked his Canadian counterpart on social media late Tuesday, after Justin Trudeau criticized the way Israel is waging war

Trudeau said the world is witnessing the killing of women, children and babies, and that it must stop.

As reports of that development emerged, Netanyahu, in a dramatic move, took aim at Trudeau on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Justin Trudeau called Israeli cabinet minister after his rebuke by Netanyahu

Quote

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with Israeli war cabinet member Benny Gantz to affirm Canada’s support for Israel

Gantz released a summary of his own on X, the social-media platform formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday morning. He said Trudeau “conveyed to me his long-standing support for the state of Israel and Israel’s right to self-defence.”

Both statements also noted that the pair discussed their concerns about rising antisemitism and spoke about Hamas, which Canada recognizes as a terrorist organization

The conversation with Gantz came after Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly reacted to comments from Trudeau urging Israel to use “maximum restraint” in preserving civilian life.

While we firmly stand with Israel against Hamas, we are also very concerned about the suffering of civilians and the destruction in Gaza. It is crucial to end this conflict before it escalates further and spirals out of control. Albania supports President Biden's call for a humanitarian pause in hostilities. In exchange for an immediate ceasefire, the Arab League and Turkiye should secure the unconditional and safe release of all hostages held by Hamas. Following the horrific crimes committed on October 7, there can be no political future for Hamas. Under a UN mandate, an international force led by the Arab League can temporarily assume control of Gaza, facilitating a transition of governing responsibilities from Hamas to the Palestinian Authority. I will soon be joining other world leaders at the Paris Peace Forum, where we will discuss ways for restoring peace in the Middle East.

It's OK for stroke patients to be "white":

John Fetterman Grossly Pretends He Can’t Understand Pro-Palestine Protester
...
Fetterman spoke at a Get Out The Vote rally for Democratic candidates in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, on Sunday. Right as he took the stage, a protester shouted, “Four thousand-plus dead children in Palestine, 9,000-plus dead civilians!”
...
Most of the audience booed, and the Pennsylvania senator replied, “The joke is on you. I had a stroke. I can’t fully understand what you’re saying.”
...
Fetterman, alongside the vast majority of the U.S. government, has not called for a ceasefire in Gaza.
...
Fetterman’s response this time leaves a bad taste in the mouth. He spent the second half of his campaign and a fair amount of his term fending off rumors that he is mentally and physically incapable of holding office. He can’t have it both ways and use his stroke recovery as an excuse to ignore comments he doesn’t like.

Fetterman also looks like what we would expect:

Israel-Hamas war cuts deep into Germany’s soul

Quote

“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” chanted many in the crowd as a phalanx of riot police closed in on them. Berlin public prosecutors say the slogan is a call for the erasure of Israel, and have moved to make its utterance a criminal offense.

While similar scenes have played out across much of the world, for Germany’s leaders, they are profoundly embarrassing and strike at the heart of the nation’s identity, on account of the country’s Nazi past.

Germany’s “history and our responsibility arising from the Holocaust make it our duty to stand up for the existence and security of the State of Israel,” Chancellor Olaf Scholz said during a visit to Israel on October 17 intended to illustrate Germany’s solidarity.

The difficulty for Scholz is that far from everyone in Germany sees it his way.

tensions in Berlin and in other German cities have rapidly escalated.

At the same time, German police have moved to ban many pro-Palestinian demonstrations, saying there is a high risk of “incitement to hatred” and a threat to public safety. Demonstrators have come out anyway, leading to violent clashes with police.

“My first thought was: ‘It’s like the Nazi time,’” said Sigmount Königsberg, the antisemitism commissioner for Berlin’s Jewish Community,

Stateless in Germany have hardly any rights

Quote

For people like Christiana Bukalo, 29, born in Germany but stateless, everyday life can become a challenge at any time: Opening a bank account, booking a hotel, getting married, pursuing a career as a civil servant — you need an ID for everything. But which state will issue you a passport if you don't have any nationality at all?

She is one of a growing number of stateless people living in Germany — currently some 126,000 people.

Bukalo learned from an early age what it means to have no nationality. "Even as a child, you get the message that you don't belong," she said. "That you're not supposed to stay here, but at the same time you can't leave either.

"In Germany, we have an extreme reproduction of statelessness, as no way has been found to deal with stateless children who are born here," she said.

simply a lack of knowledge about how to deal with stateless people."

Israeli flags. Guitar music. Bicycles. Strollers, dogs, and thick sweaters. Here at the Brandenburg Gate on a sunny October Sunday, 20,000 people gathered, united by the ideals of the modern German state. The German president spoke.

Germany's going to scheisse fast!

Germany introduces draft bill to step up deportations | DW News
Quote
The increasing number of migrants and refugees and the low number of deportations has become a major political issue in Germany, with the right-wing populists capitalizing on the anti-immigrant sentiment.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced a tougher asylum policy in a major interview with Germany's Spiegel magazine, in which he promised, "We must finally deport on a large scale those who have no right to stay in Germany." He called it unacceptable that deportation procedures often drag on for years.

Now, Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, a Social Democrat like the chancellor, wants to follow through on the pledge and has presented a bill that has been approved by the federal cabinet. She told reporters in Berlin on Wednesday that the reform of deportation procedures was only one step in a series of migration policies. "We are ensuring that people without the right to stay have to leave our country more quickly. In this way, we are strengthening society's support for the reception of refugees in Germany," she said.
She said the restrictive measures ensuring more and faster repatriations were necessary so Germany could fulfill its humanitarian responsibility for those needing protection from war and terror. "To protect the fundamental right to asylum, we must significantly limit irregular migration," Faeser said.

New rules for deportations
Faeser's bill provides for more powers for authorities to enforce deportations, especially of criminals and people smugglers. The bill's main points are:

Authorities will no longer notify individuals in advance of their imminent deportation, with the exception of families with young children.
In cases where the person in question lives in shared accommodation, police will be allowed to enter and search rooms other than the bedroom of the individual. According to the authorities, people have often evaded deportation by hiding in shared accommodation.
If a person does not have a passport to show, the authorities will also be able to search their private cell phone or lockers to establish their identity.
The maximum period of detention prior to deportation will be extended from 10 to 28 days to give the authorities more time to prepare for deportation.
Members of organized criminal groups in Germany can be deported, regardless of whether they have been convicted of a crime.

Germany's high number of refugees
Germany has taken in more than a million people seeking protection from President Vladimir Putin's war against Ukraine. On top of that, some 244,000 people from other countries applied for asylum last year; this year, that number could rise to 300,000.
But even those who have no grounds for political asylum or refugee status can often not be repatriated, if there is no country willing to take them in, or their country of origin is a war zone, or they themselves have serious health issues that cannot be treated in their countries of origin. Some people simply cannot be tracked down by authorities. Over 200,000 people fall into one of these categories.
According to the Interior Ministry, by the end of September, there were around 255,000 people living in Germany who were obliged to leave the country, of whom around 205,000 have a "tolerated status" (called a Duldung in German), meaning they are theoretically obliged to leave the country but cannot be deported.
According to the German Interior Ministry, by the end of September, 12,000 people had been returned to their countries of origin. Faeser now wants to speed up deportations. "Those who have no right to stay in Germany must leave our country again," she said.

Pathetic how fast Olaf Scholz bends to the will of rightists. First the Pro-Israel stance, now he's picking up their anti-immigration stance. Still believe in democracy leftists? Do you not see how fast cowardly politicians give into rightist desires? Germany seems to be going full rightist and racist faster than you can say "Hitler was a leftist!".

‘Complete censorship’: Germany’s Palestinian diaspora fights crackdown

Quote

In the immediate aftermath of Hamas’s attacks on Israel on October 7, a Palestinian flag was painted on a monument near Sonnenallee, commonly known as Berlin’s Arab street, in the southwestern district of Neukoelln. Authorities painted over the flag on the same night.

In contrast, the city’s Brandenburg Gate was lit up the next day in the blue and white colours of the Israeli flag.

The disparate visual examples have come to represent the fault lines existing in Germany during the latest escalation of violence in the Middle East.

Berlin is home to one of the largest Palestinian diaspora communities in Europe, estimated at 300,000.

“Nobody expected our protest last week to be cancelled as we have been holding them peacefully with police cooperation for years,” Amir Ali, a Palestinian who has been involved in organising protests in Munich, told Al Jazeera. “I was even forbidden to walk inside the city for 24 hours because I was wearing a keffiyeh. There’s a crackdown on all pro-Palestinian voices across Germany, and in my opinion, they don’t want anybody to speak up about the crimes against humanity being committed by the Israeli state.”

He said Palestinians are being subjected to racial profiling and being prevented from openly mourning.

“At our demos, we have experienced police racially profiling and the targeting, arrests and detainment of non-white and Palestinian-looking men specifically. That tells a lot about the racist infrastructure that the German police are a part of.”

“Part of it is an underlying racism where there’s a hierarchy of humanity whereby Palestinian life is not seen as equal,” Atshan said.

Israel’s security and existence is Germany’s ‘Staatsraeson’, or ‘reason of state’.”

“I’d like Germany to stand on the right side of history and condemn crimes against humanity and apartheid,” Abusalama said. “Because in my opinion, they have failed history, they have failed the Palestinians and have mobilised their guilt to silence and terrorise Palestinians in their everyday lives.”

Racism towards Black people is growing in Europe, with Germany, Austria and Finland showing the highest rates of discrimination and harassment, a survey of first- and second-generation Black immigrants in 13 EU countries published on Wednesday found.

In Austria and Germany the proportion was 64% - almost twice the previous level of 33% in Germany and a significant increase from the 42% recorded in Austria six years earlier. The next worst was Finland with 54%.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/democrats-lost-immigration-war-100000599.html

Quote
the coup de grâce came from President Biden himself last week, with the announcement that his administration would be waiving over two dozen federal laws to pursue an expansion of the literal monument to Trump’s xenophobia: the border wall. That news marked the official death of the pro-immigrant consensus that solidified in mainstream Democratic circles (and blue cities especially) during the Trump administration—and it made clear that although Trump lost in 2020, his immigration policies have won out. We are living in Stephen Miller’s world now.

It wasn’t that long ago that the idea of walling off the border, or that migrants were a destructive force, universally horrified Democrats. As the Trump administration waged war on immigration as a concept and a value, with a particularly intense and sadistic focus on asylum, taking a strong pro-immigrant stance was a no-brainer for Democrats across the country—many of whom took to the streets (and airports) to oppose to his acute depravity.
...
A first indication that the mainstream Democratic approach would come to settle into an asylum-skeptic groove was Biden’s continuation of the Title 42 program, which Miller—Trump’s anti-immigrant czar—had dreamed up. Biden’s embrace of the policy, which authorized the expulsion of would-be asylum-seekers without due process on the spurious grounds of protecting public health, came as a surprise to—and betrayal of—the immigrant advocacy community. And earlier this year, amid plans to finally phase out Title 42, Biden instituted his own version of a signature Miller anti-asylum policy requiring migrants to first apply for asylum in the countries they pass through on their way to the U.S.
...
Biden has largely refused to use federal resources like the existing refugee resettlement infrastructure to help assimilate migrants and defray local costs, only compounding the political shift. Now Democrats who still oppose building a border wall are taking a much less forgiving position on the asylum system—a stance that resembles the pre-Trump Republican Party’s, while the GOP currently careens into open bloodlust.
...
the idea of support for asylum and humanitarian migration as a cardinal tenet of the Democratic Party has turned out to be fleeting, as the new bipartisan position becomes a restrictionist one. One can only imagine what the future consensus will be if Trump and Miller get another four years in the White House.

Quote
The Greens’ Lang lashed out at Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, who is from Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democratic Party (SPD), and Germany’s special envoy for immigration, Joachim Stamp from the liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP), saying that they must “finally make progress on repatriation agreements” with non-EU countries to facilitate the deportations. The government must act “to avoid more and more people arriving,” Lang said.

These unusual remarks from a senior Green politician come as the FDP of Finance Minister Christian Lindner on Monday adopted a position paper vowing to cut social payments for asylum seekers. The FDP also wants to convince its coalition partners to declare Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria as “safe” countries of origin, which would make it easier to send asylum seekers from those countries back home.

These actions highlight the extent to which Germany’s ruling coalition of the SPD, FDP and Greens is beginning to panic as migration numbers keep rising — in August alone, about 15,100 illegal border crossings were registered, marking a 40 percent increase compared to July — and an increasing number of Germans are turning toward the AfD.

Exactly as I have been warning, we are watching Germany becoming the next Denmark. What is the point of keeping the AfD out of government if you adopt their policies?
