https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/tdsb-calls-education-a-colonial-structure-centred-on-whiteness

Quote
“Schooling in North America is inherently designed for the benefit of the dominant culture (i.e., white, middle-upper class, male, Christian, cisgender, heterosexual, able-bodied, neurotypical, etc.),” reads the latest document under a heading titled “Core Beliefs.”

“Education is a colonial structure that centres whiteness and Eurocentricity and therefore it must be actively decolonized,”
...
“White Supremacy is a structural reality that impacts all students and must be discussed and dismantled in classrooms, schools, and communities.”

Exactly. Who disagrees?

Quote
“Schools are a place for learning life and job skills, above all else.” Education Minister Stephen Lecce said in a statement to the Toronto Sun.

Life and job skills in which civilization?

Quote
“Time after time, our government has brought in legislation to prepare our students for the real world,” he said.

The real world in which civilization?

(And note that even in non-Western countries, the school curriculum is almost entirely Western.....)

Our enemies report on our success:

https://vdare.com/posts/black-dc-social-workers-have-lower-pass-rates-than-whites-solution-abolish-the-test

Quote
The jobs here are for social workers in Washington, D.C. You have to be licensed to do social work in the capital, and to get a license you have to pass an exam. It's not a severely academic exam, only a series of  "multiple choice tests, which ask social workers what they'd do in hypothetical scenarios"
...
between 2018 and 2021 76 percent of white test takers passed the bachelor's level exam the first time while the corresponding rate for black test-takers was only 33 percent.[ DC considers tossing social work exam over concerns it fails too many people of color , NBC Washington,  October 2, 2023]

D.C. has a solution, though. The District's City Council is considering dumping the test.

The False Left solution would have been to lower the "black" passing score in order to equalize outcomes. We have always been against this, as it perpetuates Western standards but then merely lowers those standards for ethnic groups which have trouble meeting them, which signals that those ethnic groups are inferior and hence promotes negative ethnic profiling against them later (during hiring, promotion, etc.).

The new solution is True Left, as it challenges the validity of Western standards themselves, as previously explained:

McGill students vote in favour of pro-Palestinian policy

Quote

Despite the university warning it could cut ties with its student union over the issue, McGill students have voted in favour of adopting a contentious pro-Palestinian policy.

In a vote that ended Monday, 78 per cent of students who participated voted in favour of the policy, titled Policy Against Genocide in Palestine.

B’nai Brith Canada, a Jewish advocacy group, took legal action to try to stop the policy from being voted on. An open letter signed by Jewish students and alumni also called for the university to remove the question from the Students’ Society of McGill University’s 2023 fall referendum

McGill, however, has already stated that should the policy be adopted, the university could end its agreement with the student union that governs its funding and use of the McGill name.

“The proposed policy, if adopted, will sharpen divisions in our community

Siriana Abboud, 29, a city Department of Education teacher at PS 59 in Midtown, offers social-media guides on how to talk to 4-year-olds about “land theft, displacement and ethnic cleansing.”
...
Abboud’s exclusive “teach-ins” for educators and activists cover Palestine, Zionism, and the “struggle against colonization.” She proselytized online that “teaching can never be radical or revolutionary, so long as you deny the ongoing and violent colonization of Palestine by Zionism” and that early education can be a “tool for liberation.”

“Justice-informed teaching means breaking down power imbalances I’ve been given as a classroom teacher,” she has said, and that “we aren’t teaching the truth if we’re silent on Palestine.”
...
A guide on how to talk to kids about Palestine suggests equating it to European colonization, police brutality in the U.S., or how “some people wanted to build a wall in the U.S. to keep families away.”

It is not difficult.

‘Intifada until victory’ declare Oxford academics before meeting on Israel-Hamas war
...
A motion shared with Oxford members of the University and College Union (UCU) states that the branch believes that the war is “a direct consequence of decades of violent oppression of the Palestinian people by the Israeli state”.

It states that “only a mass uprising on both sides of the green line and across the Middle East can free the Palestinian people”.

It goes on to say that “it is the duty of the international movement of workers and youth to support this struggle” and calls for “a Socialist Federation of the Middle East” and “intifada until victory”.

Israeli MIT students 'terrified' after anti-Israel rally chant calls for 'one solution, intifada'
...
Israeli students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) say they are "terrified" to be on campus after participants at a campus protest chanted "one solution, intifada, revolution" at a rally supporting the devastating Hamas terrorist attacks that killed hundreds of Israelis in Israel.
...
Historically, what’s called as the First Intifada was a deadly series of attacks and protests carried out by Palestinians against Israelis during the 1980s. The Second Intifada occurred in the early 2000s as at least 1,000 Israelis were killed by terrorist attacks carried out by Palestinians using suicide bombers on busses and shooting civilians in the streets, bars and restaurants in cities like Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
...
The recent protest rally at MIT was held by several student groups, including MIT Coalition Against Apartheid. That group issued a statement the day after the Hamas attacks of Oct. 7, saying they "hold the Israeli regime responsible for all unfolding violence."

"We unequivocally denounce the Israeli occupation, its racist apartheid system, and its military rule. Colonization is inherently violent, aimed at erasing and replacing indigenous peoples. We affirm the right of all occupied peoples to resist oppression and colonization," the statement reads.

Israeli billionaire Idan Ofer announced that he and his wife are resigning from the Harvard Kennedy School's executive board because of the school president’s response to a student letter that blamed Israel for the terrorist attack on their country.

Ofer released a statement explaining that he and his wife, Batia, resigned "in protest of the shocking and insensitive response by the president of the university, who did not condemn the letter by student organizations who blamed Israel for the massacres," according to a report from the New York Post.

The decision comes after a letter, which was titled "Joint Statement by Harvard Palestine Solidarity Groups on the Situation in Palestine" and signed by 31 student groups, condemned Israel after the country faced a surprise attack from Hamas earlier this month.

Stanford suspends lecturer accused of making his Jewish students stand in a corner and calling Israelis 'colonizers'
...
Cohen and Mandelshtam told the Chronicle the lecturer delivered impromptu lessons in two classes, which he said would be focused on the topic of colonialism.

They also said students in one of the classes recounted the lecturer blaming the outbreak of violence between Israel and Hamas on Zionists and saying Hamas' actions were part of a resistance.

"He then asked Jewish students to raise their hands" and separated them from their belongings, explaining that he was simulating what Jews were doing to Palestinians

Thank you!

Quote
They also said students recalled the lecturer separating people in both classes into different groups based on their identities and backgrounds and calling them "colonizers" and "colonized."

Anti-Israel statements sweep more colleges
...
Northwestern University Students for Justice in Palestine issued a similar statement on Monday, saying Israel is not "the aggrieved party."

"The events of October 7th are more than just isolated incidents; they're symptomatic of decades-long desperation stemming from subjugation and systemic oppression," the statement said.

"Israel's portrayal as the aggrieved party is not only historically inaccurate, but also contradicts the very dynamics they've established. A party that controls the resources, dictates movement, dominates military might, and infringes upon the rights of another, cannot, by any logical construct, claim victimhood," the statement says.
...
University of Virginia (UVA) Students for Justice in Palestine said Sunday that following the brutality carried out by Hamas, it was "hopeful for the future."

"Over the past two days, many of us have been afraid, worried, and even hopeful for the future of Palestine," the group said.

"Students for Justice in Palestine at UVA unequivocally supports Palestinian liberation and the right of colonized people everywhere to resist the occupation of their land by whatever means they deem necessary.

"We mourn the loss of human life and hope for long-lasting peace which cannot be achieved without the firm establishment of equality and justice. In an unprecedented feat for the 21st century, resistance fighters in Gaza broke through the illegitimate border fence, took occupation soldiers hostage, and seized control of Israeli settlements that are illegal under international law."

Even better:

https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/columbia-student-group-celebrates-historic-hamas-counteroffensive-against-israeli-civilians/

Quote
A Columbia University student group celebrated Hamas’s “historic” massacre of Israeli civilians, characterizing it as a long-overdue “counteroffensive” against Israel’s purported apartheid regime. It also urged the university to respond to the situation by cutting off its partnerships with higher-learning institutions in Israel and slammed university administrators’ messages condemning the terrorist attacks.

That statement comes amid the mobilization of Palestinian “resistance” groups in the U.S. in the wake of the attacks. By praising the Hamas massacres, it goes even further than a statement by Harvard students did, which blamed Israel for inviting the terrorist attacks.

“Yesterday was an unprecedented historic moment for the Palestinians of Gaza, who tore through the wall that has been suffocating them in one of the most densely-populated areas on Earth for the past 16 years — an open-air prison blockaded by Israeli soldiers via land, air and sea,” read the statement by Columbia’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), which was published yesterday.

“Palestinians launched a counter-offensive against their settler-colonial oppressor — which receives billions of US dollars annually in military aid and possesses one of the world’s most robust surveillance and security apparatuses. Any omission of this context — any rhetoric of ‘an unprovoked Palestinian attack” — is shamefully misleading,” it added, urging readers to review reports by human-rights groups that characterized Israel as an apartheid state.
...
In its statement praising the Hamas attack, SJP said that people calling for peace are overlooking what it characterized as previous abuses by Israel’s military: “You are not asking for peace. You are asking for quiet submission to systemic violence.”
...
SJP also criticized Columbia for operating a dual-degree program with Tel Aviv University and for moving to open its own “Global Center” in the city.

In another statement, issued today, other Columbia student groups echoed SJP’s critiques of the school administration’s comments on the terrorist attacks and demanded that it cut all its institutional ties to Israel

https://www.yahoo.com/news/striking-down-affirmative-action-supreme-110000662.html

Quote
By striking down affirmative action, the Supreme Court put forth a dangerous and false ideal of 'colorblindness'
...
In her dissenting opinion, Justice Sotomayor lambasted the Court for cementing a "superficial rule of colorblindness."

By ignoring the realities of race, a colorblind approach can be harmful to communities of color.
...
Colorblindness has become a prominent school of thought, especially in the educational sphere, sometimes used as a counterpoint to concepts like critical race theory, which teaches that systemic racism is a part of American history and society.

Advocates for colorblind rhetoric often argue that overlooking racial differences will lead to students of all racial and ethnic backgrounds growing up in symbiotic harmony. "I don't see color" is a common refrain among prominent white professionals and personalities — everyone from ex-Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz to conservative commentator Tomi Lahren have uttered a version of it.

But who does a colorblind approach really benefit?
...
An educational system built for white Americans

In the US, around 79% of public school teachers are white. They are teaching a student body that is 53% non-white. According to Pew research from 2021, there is not a single state where a teacher is less likely to be white than their students. They are also teaching from a curriculum that is predominantly focused on white authors, and one that often tells a whitewashed version of history.
...
From birth through every step of their educational journey to career advancement and retirement, the US is built primarily for white Americans to succeed. Given that, ignoring the realities of racism does not serve communities of color.

Colorblindness only benefits white people, saving them from the discomfort of having to grapple with the role their own racial identity played in their successes. It allows them to minimize or fully dismiss the extent of harm caused by discrimination. In a colorblind world, the onus of having to confront these daily realities is solely the burden of communities of color who are told they must suffer in silence.

To put it another way, there are those who claim to support merit-based admission. But whose standards of merit are we using? By Western standards, the most Faustian are the most meritorious:

https://trueleft.createaforum.com/true-left-vs-right/homo-hubris/msg14444/?topicseen#msg14444

Thus merit-based admission under Western standards promotes Faustianism. Is this what we should be promoting?
