Israeli attacks on Gaza stirred up more interest in Islam in Spain: Muslim leader

Quote

In Spain, Israel’s attacks on Gaza stirred up more interest in Islam and the conflict in the Middle East, according to a local Muslim leader

Umar del Pozo, head of the Association of Islamic Community in Spain and of the Granada Mosque Foundation, told Anadolu that the Palestinian issue raised questions in people's minds.

"Maybe Europeans started seeing the truth for the first time," he said, adding that every week the mosque in the southern Andalusia region sees one or two new converts to Islam.

The Palestinian issue also sowed sympathy toward Muslims among those who already knew something about Islam, del Pozo also noted.

"They see the Israeli attacks and lies. As a result, they start asking more questions in their minds and of the people around them," he said.

Palestinians' will to go back to their homes and their fight adds a spiritual aspect to that questioning, del Pozo added.

"This is how people discover Islam," he explained, adding that the attendance in Granada of pro-Palestinian protests was high.

"We explain what’s happening in Palestine to our Christian neighbors too. They ask questions and try to learn more about Islam during the protests. I can say that (Islam) got more attention. This isn’t only in Granada, all of Europe is raising its voice on this issue," del Pozo said.

Converting to Islam

Nahuel Calderon, 26, said he learned more about Islam from his girlfriend and recently converted.

"I can say that I found more inner peace, and live a better life now," he said.

Granada has a community of almost 37,000 Muslims, including 4,000 Spaniards who converted to Islam and their third-generation children.

Spain counts almost 3 million Muslims originating from Morocco, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Senegal, and Algeria. They mostly live in Catalonia, Valencia, Andalusia, and Madrid.

A woman interrupts a Quran-burning protest in Sweden by spraying activist with a fire extinguisher

Quote

Swedish police detained a woman Friday who sprayed an anti-Islam activist with a fire extinguisher as he staged a Quran-burning protest outside the Iranian Embassy in Stockholm.

Video of the scene showed the woman rushing up to Salwan Momika and spraying white powder toward him before she was intercepted by plainclothes police officers who led her away.

The Quran-burnings have sparked angry protests in Muslim countries, attacks on Swedish diplomatic missions and threats from Islamic extremists.

Sweden on Thursday raised its terror alert to the second-highest level, saying the country had become a priority target for terrorist groups.

Large numbers of immigrants don’t respect the law or want to assimilate

To be sure, rapid immigration can and will destabilize any western society.

Ethnic tensions flared in early 20th-century America when the immigrant population reached a peak of 15 percent of the nation, a level that the formerly homogeneous Netherlands has just reached after surging migration in recent years. Ireland too has received a huge influx of foreigners, with 141,000 new arrivals in just the past year, in a country of only five million.

But Europe’s problem is not simply too many new people to assimilate. It is that many of these newcomers, and indeed their children, don’t want to assimilate. And this presents an existential crisis for the ideology of liberal democracy

Islam poses a similar challenge for the modern West, at least for those adherents who hold sharia law alone to be valid, or who see Israel and any societies that support Israel as their existential foes.

countries like the Netherlands or France, where Islam now makes up a rapidly-growing 7.1 percent and 8.8 percent of the population respectively. Many of these Muslims have cheerfully adapted to the majority culture, but some harbor intense hostility to the West. Within such a context, the wearing of headscarves becomes not a personal fashion choice but a deeply divisive cultural statement.

Rise of Islam in Europe and its consequences

Quote

By 2023, that number has exceeded 50.3 million, which makes Islam the second largest religion in Europe. The figure pales in comparison with the third and fourth largest religions in Europe, which number between one and two million.

It is expected that by 2050 Islam will be the largest global religion across the four corners of the planet.

The rise of Muslims in the West, particularly in Europe, can be divided into two main reasons.

The first is the record rise of Europeans converting to Islam.

Firstly, Europeans, in particular the younger generation, have studied and established Islam to be a religion of peace that promotes equal rights for everyone and does not differentiate between race, gender, wealth and so on.

Among the many popular European converts to Islam is the sister-in-law of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Lauren Booth famously announced her conversion during Blair's premiership after visiting the shrine of Fatima al-Masumeh in the Iranian city of Qom.

"It was a Tuesday evening and I sat down and felt this shot of spiritual morphine, just absolute bliss and joy," Booth said.

The second factor that has given rise to Islam in Europe is the West's invasions, attacks, and occupation of Muslim nations in West Asia for more than two decades now.

The death and disaster that came with the merciless attacks, led by the U.S., triggered a refugee crisis in Europe.

Europe’s Muslim population will continue to grow – but how much depends on migration

Quote

The recent surge in refugees from Syria and other Muslim-majority nations to Europe has prompted a backlash among segments of Europe’s population

While Muslims are still a relatively small share of Europe’s population (roughly 5%), they are set to continue rising as a percentage of Europe’s population, according to a new Pew Research Center analysis of demographic data. This is true even if immigration stops entirely in the coming decades, which is a highly unlikely scenario. And if migration to the continent continues at medium or high levels, the share of Europe’s population that is Muslim could more than double between now and 2050

Apartheid end with anti-democracy

Quote
A prerequisite for parliamentary democracy is that majority and minority status should be fluid — that the ruling majority party should, at each election, be almost as likely to become a minority as to retain its majority. In a multiracial polity this does not happen. Parties represent racial groups rather than different philosophies of government, and elections become racial headcounts. As the old system approached its end, the major obstacle to negotiating a new constitutional order was the question of whether South Africa would become a unified, centralized democracy, as demanded by the ANC, or a cooperative federation of the various racial and tribal groups. One cannot understand South African politics without grasping this issue.

The majority race has a lock on power; government ceases to have a mediating function and becomes an instrument in the hands of the majority for oppressing minorities. For this reason, many theorists of democracy have urged that the principle of majority rule be severely curtailed in countries with mutually mistrustful peoples with different languages, races, or religions. Some form of structured power-sharing that protects minority rights is likely to be more successful than winner-take-all majority rule.

Islam sided with ANC (Africa National Congress) to fight against apartheid westerners

Quote
One little-known trend Mrs. Mercer reports on is the growth of Islam, previously restricted to a tiny community of Cape Malays. Islamic militants began agitating in South Africa within a year of the ANC takeover. Islam today is the largest religion of conversion, with over a million followers, or 2 percent of the population.

The innocent-sounding People Against Gangsterism and Drugs (PAGAD) is a Muslim front involved in extortion, racketeering, and intimidation of witnesses and political opponents. In 1999 and 2000, the group carried out no less than 80 fire bombings of such targets as restaurants, homosexual nightclubs, and Jewish establishments. PAGAD appears to have gone dormant after the arrest of most of its leaders.

For the time being, therefore, the ANC seems to have been able to curb the worst Islamic excesses. One expert argues that the “tacit alliance between mainstream Muslim leaders and the ruling party has successfully managed to sideline more radical voices.” The future balance of power remains to be seen, however. The ANC already has a Muslim wing known as the Call of Islam, and recently elected a Muslim as its Western Cape provincial leader.

Mrs. Mercer holds out little hope for her native land. Her message is mainly directed to us; the book’s subtitle is “Lessons for America from Post-Apartheid South Africa,” and the cover features an American flag. “South Africa’s gutted institutions serve as a harbinger of things to come in the US,” she notes, “where affirmative action is still dismissed as a ‘minor irritant,’ but ought not to be.” As our government continues to transfer wealth from the productive to the unproductive, all the while importing more unproductive people, America is increasingly coming to resemble what she calls the “dying Christian civilization at the foot of Africa.”

Yesterday was a perilous and dark moment in the history of this democracy. Mike Freer, Conservative MP for Finchley and Golders Green, announced he was leaving politics after being hounded with death threats for his pro-Israel views. A decade ago, a group called “Muslims Against Crusades” urged its supporters to target the man who represents the UK’s most heavily Jewish area. Alluding to the stabbing of Labour MP Stephen Timms by an Islamist extremist, the group told Mr Freer to “let Stephen Timms be a warning to you.”

Today, Mr Freer considers himself “lucky to be alive”, having learned that Ali Harbi Ali, the terrorist who went on to murder Sir David Amess MP in 2021, had turned up at his constituency office in north London with the intention of killing him. A devastating arson attack there in December followed by an email (calling him “the kind of person who deserved to be set alight”) was the final straw.

Freer is a member of Conservative Friends of Israel (CFI). Although he is not Jewish, The Jewish Chronicle in 2008 ranked him 99th in its list of 100 most powerful influences on the Jewish community.[18] In 2014, Freer resigned as parliamentary private secretary to Nick Boles in order to vote against a backbench motion recognising Palestine as a state

In October 2019, Freer hosted a crocus planting ceremony in memory of the 1.5 million children who were murdered in the Holocaust, which was attended by around 100 members of the local community.[25]

Will it be enough?

https://rmx.news/germany/germanys-waning-left-wing-government-expedites-citizenship-process-and-voting-rights-for-migrants-ahead-of-next-years-election/

Quote
The German parliament voted in favor of the left-wing federal government’s new citizenship law on Friday, a move that will reduce the time migrants must reside in the country before receiving voting rights, potentially enabling 2.5 million previously non-German citizens to support left-wing parties in next year’s federal election.

Foreign nationals living in Germany will soon be able to obtain citizenship after just five years instead of the previous eight, and in some cases, migrants who can show “special integration performance” will be instantly naturalized after just three years of residence.

The new law also relaxes the requirement for elderly foreign nationals to show proficiency in the German language, while children of foreigners who have lived in Germany for five years or more will be automatically naturalized.

According to experts cited by the Junge Freiheit news outlet, the move will immediately enable 2.5 million foreign nationals to apply for a German passport, including hundreds of thousands of migrants who entered Germany illegally at the peak of the migrant crisis in 2016.

Cynics would describe the timing of the citizenship reforms to be convenient for the government, which is currently plummeting in the opinion polls and losing ground to the opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) because of its failing immigration policy.

Naturalizing millions of foreign nationals will almost inevitably tip the scales favorably in the government’s direction ahead of federal elections next year, with foreigners statistically far more likely to support left-wing parties.
...
The latest available government figures show that approximately 170,000 foreigners were granted citizenship in 2022, the vast majority of whom originated from Islamic nations. A total of 50,000 Syrians were naturalized, while Afghans, Turks, and Iraqis featured heavily.

I of course still insist that it is better to physically exterminate AfD voters than to merely add left-leaning voters.

Torn apart: How the Israel-Hamas war is dividing French society

Quote

The ongoing conflict in Gaza between Hamas and Israel is tearing apart an already polarised French society, resonating with some of the country’s deepest divisions

The terrorist attack carried out by Hamas on 7 October reignited the trauma of the November 2015 Paris attacks for many in French society. But the impact of the attack and the subsequent war goes far deeper, resonating with France’s profound political, social, and religious divides – and policy makers fear that the ongoing fallout from the war will worsen these tensions. With its large Jewish and Muslim communities, and a fraught colonial past in the Middle East and North Africa, France is being torn apart by the events in Gaza and Israel.

While the war in Ukraine generated a rare consensus within the French population and political class, the war in Gaza may expose the strong divides that underpin it.

France is home to a population of around six million Muslims, most of whom are of North African descent. The Palestinian cause has long been close to the heart of French Muslims, who often identify with Palestinians’ suffering through their own experiences of discrimination. As such, the ongoing destruction caused by the Israeli siege of Gaza has triggered personal and deep seated anger within France’s Muslim community. And, just three months after the violent riots that followed the killing of a young French Muslim by police, French authorities fear another outburst of violence may be imminent.

While the government and most political parties firmly condemned the Hamas attack and supported Israel’s right to defend itselfexterminate, some political voices on the far-left faced vehement criticism for attributing some responsibility for the attack on Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory.

Fearing that the debates may further inflame tensions within France, President Emmanuel Macron made a solemn presidential address

Quote
Hundreds of pro-Hamas Muslims screaming “Allahu Akbar” (the Islamic war cry God is Great) rampaged through the airport, hunting for Jews.

The independent Medizona News website reported that the demonstration was prompted by calls spread on Telegram messaging app on Sunday to block a plane scheduled to arrive from Tel Aviv.

The Islamic mob, waving Palestinian Authority flags, stormed the tarmac, forcing the Red Wings plane that had arrived from Israel to seal its doors to protect the passengers. The mob checked the passports of any passengers they could find, hunting for the Israelis (Jews) — with no interference by police.

Makhachkala Airport was shut down in response, and flights that were scheduled to arrive were placed on hold, according to AirLive.net. Social media footage on Telegram showed the rioters stopping cards to check the documents of drivers and passengers, hunting for Israelis and Jews.

Antisemitism has been skyrocketing in the Caucasus, a region that includes Dagestan. A pro-Hamas mob raided a hotel in the city of Hasbiurt this weekend, hunting for Jews, according to Wall Street Journal reporter Yaroslav Trofimov.

In Khasavyurt, Dagestan, a hotel posted a sign at the entrance, stating clearly: “Entry to citizens of Israel (Jews) strictly forbidden.”

Sound familiar? It should. Welcome back to 1938.

Pro-Palestinian protest in London sees thousands call for bombing to stop

Quote

Tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters have marched in London and across the UK to urge an end to Israel's attacks in Gaza.

Demonstrators gathered on the streets of the capital holding flags and banners as they demanded an end to the bombing.

Protests also took place in Manchester, Glasgow, Belfast and other cities.

It follows the recent upsurge in conflict between Hamas and Israel.

Over the past three weekends huge protests have taken place in major UK cities.

Elsewhere in the UK, thousands attended a pro-Palestinian rally outside Manchester's Central Library at St Peter's Square.

About 3,000 protesters gathered in Belfast City Centre for a rally which walked along Royal Avenue to City Hall.
