There was a kid who tortured cats, like throwing the cay over a flaming fire. When confronted, the mom said boys will be boys. This is totally abnormal behavior. I think some parents will allow this to happen rather than be embarrassed with a screw loose child. I think this applies here.

What did the cat do to him? Nothing! Therefore this kid should burn in hell for eternity. How is this comparable to shooting your oppressor?

This is likely a boy who is treated so badly that he takes revenge on a safe target.  With me its was lizards.

An asylum seeker who stabbed an angler to death in a hostel bedroom blamed living at the YMCA for five years as he was jailed for life.
