Essentially, Trump was the real life Pied Piper. It's quite amazing how so many people, who consider themselves educated and informed, were so easily led to the precipice of disaster by an obvious con man!
We’re used to thinking hugely well of democracy. But interestingly, one of the wisest people who ever lived, Socrates, had deep suspicions of it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLJBzhcSWTk
Democracy is the closest we've gotten to a form of government that offers equal representation and rights to all people and provides an avenue for everyone to contribute to society's development. But it is no secret that Plato, one of the greatest ancient Greek philosophers, did not like democracy. He believed that democracy doesn't work. Or as is precisely stated in The Republic, "Democracy is a charming form of government, full of variety and disorder, and dispensing a sort of equality to equals and unequal alike". Furthermore, in The Republic, he proposes what he envisioned an ideal government should resemble. Although all of Plato's suggestions are not ideal or applicable in a democracy, there are definitely a few that can be learned and adapted to improve our governments' status. Due to the recent developments across the globe, it should be self-evident that we haven't managed and taken care of our democracies very well. So what faults did Plato find in democracy as a form of government? Why did one of the greatest philosophers our planet has ever known, living in one of the most ancient democracies in humanity's history, not like democracy? And more importantly, what lessons can we take away from Plato and his Republic?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0au4gWNauwI
“McCarthy doesn’t like what I did in holding Trump accountable. He doesn’t like what I did in holding him accountable,” says Rep. Adam Schiff. “There’s this effort, I think, to try to decapitate those who would hold them accountable and responsible by removing them from committees.”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEwdMCPfTEw
MAGA Republicans Reps. Greene, Perry, Boebert, and Gosar have been appointed to the House Oversight Committee. "This is very bad for the country, but I have to say in a political sense it's going to be good for Democrats, because nobody cares about this stuff,” politics expert Stuart Stevens tells Joy Reid of expectations that far-right Republicans will turn the House Oversight Committee into a partisan circus.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yClwwUctoF4

Let’s not sugarcoat it. But let’s also commend the fact they “appear” to be handling it seriously. Trumpers will have a field day with this…after they defended the clown for worse things. But, that’s how American politics are. People need to be principled and not blindly follow politicians.Response:
