As I keep trying to explain, every element of Western civilization reinforces other elements of Western civilization. No matter how unrelated they initially seem, any given element of Western civilization will eventually assist another in progressing faster than it would have progressed absent it. This is why EVERYTHING Western has to be destroyed.

How AI-generated misinformation threatens election integrity
Quote
From robocalls to deep fakes, artificial intelligence is already playing a role in the 2024 election. Last week the Federal Communications Commission made AI-generated voice calls illegal. Laura Barrón-López has been covering AI’s impact on the upcoming election and discussed the latest with Amna Nawaz.

Deepfaking Democracy: Why AI Threatens News And Global Elections In 2024
Quote
Deepfaked news segments that appear to be delivered by well-known journalists and TV networks are going viral on social media. Often times, the view counts of deepfaked segments largely outnumber those of real news stories. We take a look at how this application of AI has dramatically improved in quality, and why that is a grave concern as 4 billion people around the world will cast ballots in regional and national elections this year.

Who designed the AI? Whoever designed it is going to have a similar mindset to those that created it.

Mmmmm, don't blame the program. Blame the programmer.

I've noticed that ChatGpt has not only been programmed with racist biased data but it also gives short answers or no answer when you ask questions about race but from an African or coloured persons perspective. I've had many situations where it was caught out about African history and refused to answer. It then went on to apologise when I corrected it even though it had the correct answer already.

Because the colonizer program A.I.

I don't know how many times I've heard, it will eventually work itself out! Unfortunately this bias goes so far back into antiquity that most of the information online is filled with Matamoros or Moor Slayers, Black genocide. There are cities and even a Catholic Saint for this. Thank you guys, I look forward to working with the Algorithmic Justice League.

Garbage in, garbage out - that has always been the reason to be suspicious of AI.
It will certainly reflect the fears and prejudices of its programmers.

Remember when I mentioned that people in AI are working around the clock to create a world where we can never trust anything ever again? Well, it’s officially the beginning of the end:

OpenAI teases ‘Sora,’ its new text-to-video AI model

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna139065

https://www.reddit.com/r/StableDiffusion/s/RzuVkk0cBb

Competent AI generated video is officially here, to complement the recent rise of AI photos. Now it’s only a matter of time before both AI photos AND videos are realistic enough to make them virtually indistinguishable, even to AI experts themselves. The prototype videos shown in the above links demonstrate as much

This technology will undoubtedly be used to sway public opinion and spread entirely fabricated atrocity propaganda at worst, or to simply spread FUD at best

"While the Neuralink chip is currently designed only to read brain signals to allow a person to control another device, any time we're tapping into the brain directly, there will be a risk that it could be hacked and used to send signals back to the brain," the specialist said.

Thousands of people are reportedly lining up to have a portion of their skull removed and one of Elon Musk's brain chips implanted

Quote

Thousands of people have expressed interest in receiving one of Neuralink's brain implants, a recent Bloomberg report from one of Elon Musk's biographers, Ashlee Vance, says.

Vance, who said he visited Neuralink's facilities 10 times in three years, said the company had yet to implant its device in a human but aimed to operate on 11 people next year and more than 22,000 by 2030.

Earlier this year, the US Food and Drug Administration gave Neuralink, which Musk cofounded in 2016, approval to launch human trials of its device that Musk has described as a "Fitbit in your skull." The FDA had previously rejected Neuralink's bid for human testing in March over safety concerns, Reuters reported, including that the wires connected to the brain chip could move within a subject's head or that the chip could overheat.

The company says it hopes to eventually make a device that will create a sort of symbiosis between humans and machines

"someone willing to have a chunk of their skull removed by a surgeon so a large robot can insert a series of electrodes and superthin wires into their brain."

Vance wrote that Neuralink had done 155 implantation surgeries using the robot on a variety of animal test subjects, including pigs and monkeys. But, he said, in typical Musk fashion, the billionaire had continued to push for the robot to move faster, as well as for the surgery to be performed without human help.

The biographer said Musk had pointed to the need to combat competition from other brain-computer startups such as Synchron and Onward, which had already begun human trials.

Vance quoted the billionaire saying Neuralink needed to pick up its pace "like the world is coming to an end" to keep up with artificial intelligence and the possibility of an AI being that wouldn't be friendly to humans.

With the help of technology, you can easily replace a person's face with that of another individual. It may be fun as long as it doesn't harm anyone but unfortunately, that's not the case. Deepfake technology has become a growing concern. It is being weaponized against women. We get you more details in this story.

Canada joins 27 countries, EU in signing world-first 'Bletchley Declaration' AI risk paper

Quote

Delegates from 28 nations, including the U.S. and China, agreed Wednesday to work together to contain the potentially "catastrophic" risks posed by galloping advances in artificial intelligence.

The first international AI Safety Summit, held at a former codebreaking spy base near London, focused on cutting-edge "frontier" AI that some scientists warn could pose a risk to humanity's very existence.

But U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris urged Britain and other countries to go further and faster, stressing the transformations AI is already bringing and the need to hold tech companies accountable -- including through legislation.

In a speech at the U.S. Embassy, Harris said the world needs to start acting now to address "the full spectrum" of AI risks, not just existential threats such as massive cyberattacks or AI-formulated bioweapons.

"There are additional threats that also demand our action, threats that are currently causing harm and to many people also feel existential," she said,

The AI Safety Summit is a labor of love for Sunak, a tech-loving former banker who wants the U.K. to be a hub for computing innovation and has framed the summit as the start of a global conversation about the safe development of AI.

The tech billionaire was among those who signed a statement earlier this year raising the alarm about the perils that AI poses to humanity.

Open source AI systems allow researchers and experts to quickly discover problems and address them. But the downside is that once an an open source system has been released, "anybody can use it and tune it for malicious purposes," Bengio said on the sidelines of the meeting.

Only governments, not companies, can keep people safe from AI's dangers

In contrast, Harris stressed the need to address the here and now, including "societal harms that are already happening such as bias, discrimination and the proliferation of misinformation."

White House says latest ‘Mission: Impossible’ film reinforced Joe Biden’s concerns about AI

Quote

US President Joe Biden signed yesterday (31 October) an executive order to establish new standards and security measures surrounding artificial intelligence (AI).

Reed said Biden had witnessed AI technology create “fake AI images of himself (and) of his dog”, and had seen it perform “the incredible and terrifying technology of voice cloning”.

The action items of Biden’s executive order will be carried out in the next 90 to 365 days, as part of what the White House described as “the most sweeping actions ever taken to protect Americans from the potential risks of AI systems”.

The bionic hand is based on revolutionary technology that connects directly to a user's bones, muscles, and nerves – creating a human-machine interface that allows AI to translate brain signals into precise yet simple movements.

The researchers, who come from Sweden, Italy, and Australia, say it's the first time that a robotic hand with internal electrodes has shown long-term viability for amputations below the elbow.

Basically, that means when an implant is placed into a person's bone, the bone cells will grow tightly around it.

"This integration is so strong that we can actually attach the artificial limb directly to the skeleton," explains Ortiz Catalán in a video.

When this technique is combined with reconstructive surgery, Ortiz Catalán argues he can "truly integrate biology and electronics".
