Ayatollah Khamenei rules out any letup in resistance to US
"The sanctions are a crime against a nation; even though it seems to be against the establishment, it is indeed against the entire nation," he added.
The Leader said surrendering to the enemy is not the way to lift the sanctions. “The only cure for sanctions is rather relying on domestic capabilities.”
“Some argue and propagate the idea that if you want to stop the US from bullying, you need to back off. No sir! A person who is accustomed to aggression will come forward if you back off. This is a clear and natural issue. If you accept the US demands, they will raise new demands,” he noted.
“What the US wants is that we totally abandon our nuclear industry, reduce our defensive equipment to one-tenth, and give up our regional power,” he said.
"Unfortunately, some people, under the influence of the enemy, say what good nuclear power has for us. Nuclear power is the definite need for our country in the future. We need at least 20,000 or 30,000 megawatts of nuclear power, which we cannot get through another means or it is not cost-effective. What should we do on the day we needed it? Whose door should we knock? Should we beg from America and Europe to give us electricity or do enrichment for us? Will they do that? We have to think about tomorrow. These are not the needs that will be ready in a few months or two years. It must be prepared in advance and we have prepared the ground for this."
Ayatollah Khamenei said the principle part of the nuclear industry has been maintained despite numerous damage Iran incurred because of the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
'US, not Iran, will benefit from negotiation'
The Leader pointed to the US call for negotiation with Iran, and said, “Those who call for talks with Iran seek to negotiate over these issues. Everyone must pay attention; I have said this for several times, and I have to repeat it, because some either fail to understand or pretend they can’t understand.”
“If the enemy talks of negotiation, it means ‘come to the negotiating table and don’t develop missiles’. If you give in to their demands … you’d make yourself defenseless; and if you don’t, you’d have to face the same story: disputes, threats and sanctions again. This is what negotiation means.”
The Leader said the reason for his opposition to negotiation with America is that “such negotiations have no use; of course they benefit from it [but Iran doesn’t].”
“The old guy who is in office in the US apparently took some propaganda advantages of negotiation with North Korea. He wants to use it [negotiation with Iran] for his personal gain in elections and elsewhere,” the Leader noted.
However, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed, the US ruling system seeks to achieve broader “vital” objectives beyond what the incumbent president seeks to gain from talks with Iran.
“They say you should abandon your defensive equipment, your regional power and national might. No man of honor interested in maintaining the country’s interests would give in to such demands. This is why I’m opposed to negotiation; moreover, we are in talks with the entire world, except for the US and the fake Zionist regime, and there’s no problem with that,” he added.
Goals of sanctions
Ayatollah Khamenei said the enemies of the Islamic Republic seek to achieve short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals by imposing sanctions against the Iranian nation.
In the short-term, they seek to impose so much pressure that the nation gets weary, exhausted, and disturbed, so much so that they stand against the establishment, he said.
“You know that last year they said and this year they say there will be a hot summer – meaning the people should come and stand against the establishment, but they themselves got the hot summer,” the Leader said, apparently referring to anti-racism rallies which have been going on in the US for two months now.
Their mid-term goal, he said, is to prevent the country’s development through sanctions. "They mainly seek to prevent the country’s scientific development,” he said, citing the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists as an example of the enemy’s efforts to hinder the country’s scientific progress.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the enemy’s long-term goal is to lead the country and the government into bankruptcy.
“One of the other goals they pursue is to dismantle the country’s economy; if a country’s economy collapses, it is not possible to live in that country anymore.”
The enemies also seek to achieve a collateral goal, which is to cut the Islamic Republic’s ties with the resistance forces in the region, Ayatollah Khamenei noted. “That’s because they know the Islamic Republic will keep helping them as much as it can.”
“We have a strategic depth in the region, based on which many nations and governments are our supporters and interested in Iran, ready to strive in the service of our goals. The enemies say you 'should give this up', but even if we do that, they will not stop there.
"When you are willing to reduce your ability to defend yourself and destroy your authority in the region; when you are willing to totally abandon your nuclear industry which is vital to the country, the enemy will not be satisfied yet and will demand something new," the Leader said.
However, the Leader added, these dreams will never come true and as a Persian proverb says, “A camel dreams of cottonseed.”

Disinformation campaign
The Leader further pointed to a disinformation campaign, which works hand in hand with the sanctions and includes distortion of the truth and misrepresentation of the realities.
The main purpose of the disinformation campaign is to undermine the people’s morale, and to offer wrong solutions to people’s problems, Ayatollah Khamenei added.
The enemies, the Leader said, suggest if Iran wants the sanctions to be lifted, it must give in to US demands. “This is the gist of what they say.”
“Some people are influenced [by these insinuations] and exactly repeat what the enemies want, whether regarding the country’s weaknesses or its points of progress which they play down and offer wrong solutions,” the Leader said.
However, this campaign will fail to influence the majority of the Iranian people, because they have known the enemy and how biased it is, Ayatollah Khamenei added.
The Leader said the disinformation campaign tries to convince the Iranian people that the Islamic Republic must succumb to the US demands.
“If the distortion process fails, so will the sanctions,” the Leader said. “The arena is the arena of war of wills; when the process of sanctions is defeated and the will of the Iranian nation remains the same, it will prevail over the will of the enemy."
Ayatollah Khamenei said the Iranian people are smart and have taken advantage of the enemy’s sanctions, gaining achievements against the enemy’s will.
He went on to say that the US’ secondary sanctions led the Iranian scientists and producers to indigenize what the country could not provide because of Washington’s bans.
He pointed to the production of the advanced homegrown jet fighter Kowsar, the spare parts produced inside the country, the establishment of thousands of knowledge-based companies, the Persian Gulf Star Refinery built by the IRGC, and the major energy projects in southern and Western Iran as examples of the Islamic Republic’s achievements under the sanctions.
“Had they sold us a jet aircraft, we would not have produced the jet trainer Kowsar inside the country,” he said.
“They [enemies] have admitted that Iran managed to manufacture so many defensive products at the time of sanctions.”

Two Iranians sentenced to 10 years for spying

With Trump’s re-election prospects up in the air, a heated U.N. meeting on Iran shows world powers' fading fear of confronting the United States.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday sought to reassert America’s waning influence on the world stage, challenging the U.N. Security Council to extend a U.N. arms embargo that is due to expire in October. Instead, America’s top diplomat received a scolding from friends and foes alike in the 15-nation council, which roundly criticized Washington for withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal two years ago without a clear plan to limit Tehran’s nuclear activities.
On a day when the European Union pointedly excluded the United States from a “safe list” of countries permitted to travel to the 27-member bloc, the council’s chilly reception of Pompeo added to a portrait of an increasingly isolated United States and underscored how little deference other countries pay the Trump administration as it faces a grim reelection contest. The U.N. debate came amid a sharpening blowback in Washington to revelations that the Trump administration failed to act on months of intelligence warnings that Russia offered Taliban fighters bounties to kill U.S. and coalition troops in Afghanistan.
The pointedly critical tone of the debate saw Germany accusing Washington of violating international law by withdrawing from the nuclear pact, while Berlin aligned itself with China’s claim that the United States has no right to reimpose U.N. sanctions on Iran. Russia’s U.N. ambassador, Vassily Nebenzia, compared U.S. sanctions on Iran to the killing of George Floyd, saying they were akin to “putting a knee to one’s neck.”
The dispute centered on the fate of the nearly moribund 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which capped Iran’s ability to develop a nuclear weapon but which the United States abandoned in May 2018. European parties to the deal, like Iran, want to keep it alive; the Trump administration wants to kill it before the election, lest any future Democratic administration bring it back to life.

Iran: UN arms embargo on Tehran to be lifted by October 18 - Rouhani
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said a UN arms embargo on Iran would be lifted by October 18, during a weekly cabinet meeting in Tehran on Wednesday.
"Ten years of cruel arms embargo will be removed next Sunday," Rouhani said. "This is one of the JCPOA's privileges. It lifted the arms embargo and as of Sunday, we will be able to buy arms from anyone and sell arms to anyone."

Iran: Tehran will not renegotiate nuclear deal with Biden - FM spokesperson
Tehran will not renegotiate the terms of the 2015 nuclear deal with the next US president, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson told a press conference on Monday.

His tweet came after two nuclear-capable American B-52 bombers flew over the Persian Gulf on Wednesday after nonstop flights to the region from their US-based hangars. It was the third time in six weeks that American bombers were conducting long-range flights off the Iranian coast.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States does not face a quick decision on whether to rejoin the Iran nuclear deal abandoned by U.S. President Donald Trump, two of President-elect Joe Biden’s top national security nominees said on Tuesday.
Biden, who takes office on Wednesday, has said that if Tehran resumed strict compliance with the 2015 agreement - under which Iran restrained its nuclear program in return for relief from economic sanctions - Washington would too.
“We are a long way from there,” Antony Blinken, Biden’s choice for secretary of state, told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, saying the Democratic president-elect would need to see what Iran actually did to resume complying with the pact.
“We would then have to evaluate whether they were actually making good if they say they are coming back into compliance with their obligations, and then we would take it from there,” he added, saying Biden’s ultimate aim would be a deal that also limited Iran’s missile program and support for regional proxies.

Iranian military officials have fired back at Israel after its top general threatened that attack plans against the Islamic Republic were being revised, saying the regime will only speed up its annihilation if it makes even the slightest mistake.

Seize the opportunity to rethink regional security, Iran tells neighbors
Iran hails that an opportunity has arisen for the countries of the region to renew their perspective of the issue of collective security, calling the matter an asset than cannot be either bought from abroad or guaranteed by stockpiling foreign weapons.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif made the remarks in an Arabic language tweet on Thursday.
“Dear neighbors, an opportunity is available to us to rethink the issue of regional security,” the tweet read.

Press TV And Al-Alam Relaunch On Iranian Domains After US Closures
A press release from the United States Justice Department(link is external) has said the US seized the websites of 36 Iranian and Iraqi television channels, including Press TV and the Arabic-language Al-Alam, for operating “services, including website and domain services” in the US without a license from the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Licenses were needed, the Justice Department said, because the websites owned by the Iranian Islamic Radio and Television Union or Kata’ib Hezbollah, an Iraqi Shia group, were violating US sanctions after OFAC had designated IRTVU in October 2020 “for being owned or controlled by the [Iranian] Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.”
A US government notice slapped on the homepages of the closed domains said they were seized as part of law enforcement by the ‘Bureau of Industry and Security’. Both Press TV and Al-Alam were back online within hours, using Iranian domain addresses.

‘Do Not Trust The West,’ Khamenei Tells Next Iran Government
In what appeared as a rough roadmap for Iran’s next administration, the Islamic Republic’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said during a speech addressing President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet members on Wednesday that Iranian officials should not trust the West.
He advised “others” to use the Rouhani administration’s experience. “In this administration, it became clear that trusting the West is not helpful. They don’t help and they strike a blow wherever they can. When they didn’t, it was because they couldn’t,” Khamenei said.
Khamenei then more clearly advised the next administration that takes office on August 5 to distrust the United States. He said: “Administrations should utterly avoid tying their plans for negotiations with the West, for they’ll certainly fail. This administration too, wherever it relied on negotiations with the West and the US, they were unsuccessful, and when they relied on domestic potential, they succeeded.”
It was not clear what Khamenei was referring to by saying that the Rouhani administration succeeded. There are multiple serious crisis confronting Iran after eight years of Rouhani's presidency. The only glimmer of relative success was in 2016, when international sanctions were lifted after Iran agreed to the 2015 nuclear deal.
Referring to the latest rounds of indirect talks between Iranian and US delegations to revive the 2015 nuclear deal also called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Khamenei said: “In the recent nuclear talks, the Americans staunchly insisted on their obstinate stance. When making promises and on paper, they say they’ll lift sanctions, but in practice, they didn’t and won’t. Then they say new articles should be added to the deal that already exists.”
Khamenei was probably referring to the US demands that negotiation over Iran’s missiles and regional role should follow a nuclear agreement. Iran has also demanded that any future US withdrawal from the JCPOA should be based on a UN vote.
“They always say they will lift the sanctions but they never did it. Furthermore, they set new conditions and wish to include a sentence in this agreement that facilitates further negotiations. Otherwise, they say there will not be an agreement,” Khamenei complained.

Iran has called on the United Nations Security Council to hold the United States and Israel responsible for the killing of Qassem Soleimani, two years after his death.
The Iranian Quds Force (IRGC) Commander was targeted in Iraq’s capital Baghdad and killed by missiles fired from a US drone while on a diplomatic mission on January 3, 2020.
Iranian Ambassador Majid Takht Ravanchi wrote a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the UN Security Council while Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif spoke to Guterres by phone calling for the condemnation.
The US Department of Defense (DoD), and then-US President Donald Trump justified the assassination of the top Iranian general as the right to self-defence and within the framework of international law.
But Agnes Callamard, the special UN rapporteur for extrajudicial killing, wrote in a July 2020 report that Soleimani’s assassination was “unlawful”, “arbitrary” and in violation of the UN charter.
According to Callamard, the United States action lacked legal justification as there was no evidence suggesting that the commander and his convoy presented an ongoing or imminent threat to American forces and personnel.

Reemphasising Iranian authorities’ claims that the West and its allies have been behind the country’s unrest, Raisi said the country’s enemies failed to stop its progress, so they turned to the “project of chaos” that he said they have also tried to implement in neighbouring Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.
“Those who have been deceived by the enemy now know that the enemy’s issue is neither woman nor life or freedom or human rights, but it wants to take away the independence and the tranquil life of the Iranian nation,” Raisi said in reference to the “woman, life, freedom” slogan that has defined the protests.
Responding to Western criticism that the Islamic republic violates human rights and women’s rights, the president said the Iranian establishment is in a better position to criticise the behaviour of the West.
Raisi added that the West “created, supported and armed ISIS [ISIL]” while Iran fought it, and added that Iran should not be denounced for its nuclear programme because it has no nuclear weapons, unlike its Western opponents.

Over the last decade, Iran has been causing more and more headaches for oil tanker operators in the Strait of Hormuz, a central artery of global trade. In the last two years alone, Iran has harassed, attacked or interfered with 15 internationally flagged merchant vessels.
This critical waterway separates the Persian Gulf from the Arabian Sea, which makes it an important conduit for millions of barrels of oil that flow through the region.
"These tanker seizures, whether this is a sheer coincidence or not, is happening around the time that we have just passed the five-year anniversary of the Trump administration withdrawing from the nuclear deal," said Arona Baigal, research assistant for the Middle East Security Program at the Center for a New American Security.
In the most recent incidents, Iran alleges that the tankers Niovi and Purity were seized over separate legal disputes regarding ownership, and that the Advantage Sweet was taken due to a collision with an Iranian ship. In response to Iranian ship seizures, the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet, which is responsible for security in the region, announced an increase in patrols. That included the guided-missile destroyer USS Paul Hamilton transiting the strait in late May.
"When you do beef up your presence, you increase your size as a target," said Victoria Coates, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation. "And with the Iranians feeling quite emboldened now, one has to worry about the possibility that they will lash out on a larger scale."

“If the measures aimed at immediately stopping the Israeli attacks that are killing children in the Gaza Strip end in a deadlock, it is highly probable that many other fronts will be opened. This option is not ruled out and this is becoming increasingly more probable,” Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told Al Jazeera on Sunday.
“If the Zionist entity [Israel] decides to enter Gaza, the resistance leaders will turn it into a graveyard of the occupation soldiers,” he added.
Amir-Abdollahian on Saturday met with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Qatar, where they discussed the Gaza crisis “and agreed to continue cooperation”, Hamas said in a statement.
Also on Saturday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said all Islamic nations have a duty to come to the aid of the Palestinians.
Regional power Saudi Arabia has reportedly put its normalisation talks with Israel on hold, with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Thursday holding talks with the Iranian president on the Israel-Hamas war – their first phone call since restoring diplomatic ties.
Meanwhile, Israel is also preparing for the possibility that the war may expand to multiple fronts. It said it bombed the airports in Syria to stop potential Iranian mobilisation efforts there.
On Sunday, Israel declared its border with Lebanon a closed military zone as clashes with Hezbollah continued.
Kayhan, the ultraconservative newspaper whose editor-in-chief is directly appointed by Ayatollah Khamenei, said four “catastrophes” await Israel if it decides to go ahead with a ground assault on Gaza: sustaining heavy casualties due to the complexities of urban warfare; risking the lives of dozens of Israelis taken captive by Hamas; facing mounting pressure from the international community; and growing “regional isolation” as normalisation hopes fade.
Khorasan, another conservative newspaper, went with “The Unprecedented Humiliation of the ‘Losing Horse’” as its main headline earlier this week – a reference to comments made by Khamenei, who warned that any country that decides to normalise relations with Israel will engage in a “losing gamble”.
“As the Europeans say, they are betting on the losing horse,” Khamenei had said.
Hamas had “attacked the heart of occupied Palestine”.

During remarks in Tehran on Monday, Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani blamed the U.S. for the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Iranian-backed, Gaza-situated Hamas militants.

Political scientist and founder of Eurasia Group, Ian Bremmer cautioned that the ongoing war has the potential to escalate into a broader and significantly more destructive Middle East conflict should Iran become directly embroiled in the situation, NDTV reported.
"It is quite possible that Hezbollah which is much more militarily capable and supported by Iran could get directly involved in the fighting," he told NDTV.

The war in the Middle East could expand in unpredictable and dangerous ways if Israel further increases its attacks on Gaza, Iran’s most senior diplomat in the UK has warned.
But he insisted Iran had no control over the “resistance forces” in the region, who he said would make their own decisions independently of Tehran.
At a rare press briefing at the Iranian embassy, Matin said: “The situation in the Middle East is very dangerous and very volatile. Every movement by the Israeli regime including an attack against the people of Gaza definitely escalates the situation and will be expanded to other areas. No one can predict what will happen exactly.”
The briefing underscores Iran’s efforts to show it is working in conjunction with Arab states and trying to publicly position Israel as the aggressor.
Matin claimed Iran had been working hard to build a ceasefire and an alliance for an international humanitarian corridor, saying the present crisis “represents a new chapter for Islamic countries as Palestine is becoming one of the most important issues for the identity of the Islamic world”.
Echoing comments made by the regime in Tehran, he attempted to justify the attack by Hamas in which hundreds of Israelis were killed. “All of the things that have been done by Hamas and Islamic groups are just self-defence. The terror, the atrocities, the occupation and apartheid are linked with the Israelis,” he said.
Insisting that Iran would take action in the open and would not use surrogates militia such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, Matin said: “No one can [tell] the Islamic resistance groups in the Middle East what to do and not to do.”
Matin said it was necessary for Islamic countries to impose sanctions against Israel because of its actions in Gaza.
A meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah had agreed to look further into the issue, he said, adding that relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia were continuing to make progress.

Furious protesters chanted “death to England” in Iran as states across the Middle East and North Africa continued to accuse Israel of killing civilians in a strike on a Gaza hospital.

The White House on Monday accused Iran of "actively facilitating" attacks against US troops in Iraq and Syria as Washington pledges to continue its support for Israel's war in Gaza.
The White House publicly called out Iran as rocket and drone barrages launched by Iran-backed militias continued targeting US troops in Iraq and Syria on Monday amid Israel’s war in Gaza.
“We know that Iran is closely monitoring these events and in some cases, actively facilitating these attacks and spurring on others who may want to exploit the conflict,” White House National Security Council coordinator John Kirby told reporters.
Pentagon press secretary US Air Force Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder said earlier on Monday that the US has not seen Iranian leadership directly order the militias to launch the renewed spate of attacks. "That said, by virtue of the fact that they are supported by Iran, we will ultimately hold Iran responsible," Ryder said.
Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin warned the military “won’t hesitate to take the appropriate action” amid what he described as the “prospect of a significant escalation of attacks on our troops and our people throughout the region.”
The overwhelming display of force has so far not halted the attacks. Telegram accounts assocated with Iran-backed groups published statements claiming credit for what were described as additional drone attacks on US bases at Shadadi and Green Village on Monday night, which were not publicly confirmed by the US military as of publication time.
“That is a clear indicator that additional force protection measures are needed,” the senior US military official said of the continued attacks.
“I think we should be very concerned about force protection threats if Hezbollah goes all in,” Votel said, citing the 2019 Aramco attack as an example of “how devastating an Iranian cross-Gulf attack could be.”
Yet US officials have said Iran maintains the Middle East's most formidable arsenal of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones, and has smuggled such weapons to militias in countries with weak or collapsed central governments to build leverage over the US and its allies in the region.
“It is always important to respect our adversaries,” Votel told Al-Monitor.

US strikes back at Iranian-backed groups that attacked troops in Iraq and Syria: Pentagon
The airstrikes follow more than a dozen attacks on bases in the Middle East.
U.S. military aircraft have carried out strikes in eastern Syria against facilities associated with Iranian-backed militant groups believed to be responsible for more than a dozen rocket and drone attacks on American troops in Iraq and Syria that injured 21 service members, the military said Thursday night.
"Today, at President Biden's direction, U.S. military forces conducted self-defense strikes on two facilities in eastern Syria used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups," said Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in a statement.
"These precision self-defense strikes are a response to a series of ongoing and mostly unsuccessful attacks against U.S. personnel in Iraq and Syria by Iranian-backed militia groups that began on October 17," he said.
"The President has no higher priority than the safety of U.S. personnel, and he directed today's action to make clear that the United States will not tolerate such attacks and will defend itself, its personnel, and its interests," he added.
The retaliatory operations were carried out at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, in the wake of Hamas' terror attack on Israel on Oct. 7, and U.S. concerns about preventing that conflict from enveloping the rest of the region.
"The United States does not seek conflict and has no intention nor desire to engage in further hostilities, but these Iranian-backed attacks against U.S. forces are unacceptable and must stop," Austin continued. "Iran wants to hide its hand and deny its role in these attacks against our forces. We will not let them. If attacks by Iran's proxies against U.S. forces continue, we will not hesitate to take further necessary measures to protect our people."
The U.S. airstrikes were carried out by two U.S. Air Force F-16 fighter aircraft and struck two facilities affiliated with the IRGC and affiliated groups that were located near Abu Kamal, a town in far eastern Syria very close to the border with Iraq, a military official said.
"One was a weapon storage area. The other one was an ammunition storage area,” the senior U.S. military official said. “Both we know to be aligned with Iranian-aligned militias.”
The official added that the U.S. could link the munitions stored at the facilities to the 19 rocket and drone attacks carried out over the past week against U.S. personnel in Iraq and Syria.
There were no civilians at the target areas at the time of the airstrikes, said the military official who did not know if there were Iranians at the sites.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Hosseini Khamenei has called on Muslim states to cease oil and food exports to Israel, demanding an end to the bombardment of the Gaza Strip.
“The bombings on Gaza must stop immediately … the path of oil and food exports to the Zionist regime should be stopped,” Khamenei said in a speech on Wednesday, according to Iranian state media.
He suggested that the “people of Gaza have mobilised the public’s conscience by their patience,” referring to the pro-Palestinian protests around the world.
“Look at what’s happening in the world. In the UK, France, Italy, and the US, many people came out to the street and chanted slogans against Israel and the United States. They have lost their credibility and really, there is no remedy for them as they cannot justify Israel’s attack,” Khamenei said.
Iran’s top diplomat Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Tuesday that “it is natural that the resistance groups and movements do not remain silent against all these crimes” committed by Israel.
“They will not wait for anyone’s advice, therefore we need to use the last political opportunities to stop the war,” he continued, warning the situation could “get out of control”.

Iran and Israel: From allies to archenemies, how did they get here?
Iran has emerged as one of the most strident voices against the brutal Israeli bombardment of Gaza. And that’s in line with its staunch anti-Israel foreign policy. The two Middle Eastern nations are often described as archenemies.
Israel has bombed positions in Lebanon and Syria, two countries where Tehran wields considerable influence.
In 1979, the shah was overthrown in a revolution, and a new Islamic Republic of Iran was born.
Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the revolution, brought about a new worldview that predominantly championed Islam and argued for standing up to “arrogant” world powers and their regional allies, who would oppress others – including Palestinians – to serve their own interests.
This meant that Israel became known in Iran as the “Little Satan”
Tehran cut off all ties with Israel; citizens could no longer travel and flight routes were cancelled; and the Israeli embassy in Tehran was transformed into the Palestinian embassy.
Khomeini also declared every last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan as Quds Day, and ever since large rallies have been held on that day in support of Palestinians across Iran. Jerusalem is known as al-Quds in Arabic.
Trita Parsi, executive vice president of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, told Al Jazeera that Khomeini pushed against framing the Palestinian issue as an Arab nationalist cause and sought to transform it into an Islamic cause in order to provide Iran with not only the ability to champion the Palestinian cause but to lead it.
“To overcome both the Arab-Persian divide and the Sunni-Shia divide, Iran adopted a much more aggressive position on the Palestinian issue to brandish its leadership credentials in the Islamic world and to put Arab regimes allied with the United States on the defensive,” he said.
Over the years, there have been many sabotage attacks on Iran’s nuclear and military facilities that Tehran has blamed Israel for.
The attacks have also targeted personnel, including a series of high-profile nuclear scientists. The most brazen assassination came in 2020 when top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was gunned down using a satellite-monitored, AI-controlled machine gun mounted on the back of a pickup truck that later exploded to destroy evidence.

Iran said that the United States confederate occupiers would "be hit hard" if Washington did not implement a ceasefire in Gaza, the country's Minister of Defence was quoted as saying by the semi-official Tasnim news agency on Sunday.
"Our advice to the Americans confederate occupiers is to immediately stop the war in Gaza and implement a ceasefire, otherwise they will be hit hard," Mohammad-Reza Ashtiani said.
Iran considers the U.S. confederate occupiers to be "militarily-involved" in the conflict.

Iran warns of ‘inevitable expansion’ of Israel-Gaza war
An expansion of the scope of the war in Gaza is “inevitable” due to Israel’s heightened aggression, according to Iran’s foreign minister.
Separately, Amirabdollahian said on his X account on Thursday: “Time is fast running out for Tel Aviv’s crimes to continue.”
“The only benefit of Netanyahu was that he made the foundations of the fake Israeli regime more shaky and showed the criminal, violent, and aggressive face of the Zionist regime in the massacre of women and children in Gaza,” he added.

Gulf states fend off call from Iran to arm Palestinians at Riyadh summit
Gulf state leaders have fended off an Iranian-led attempt to call for arming the Palestinians and severing all diplomatic ties with Israel at an extraordinary summit in Riyadh, in a effort to retain control of the region’s diplomatic response to the Israeli assault on Gaza.
Tehran, however, insisted on Sunday that its influence remained through its allied “resistance factions” operating in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen.
The head of Hezbollah’s executive council, Hashem Safieddine, said on Sunday: “The occupying regime [Israel] is delusional and mistaken if it believes that it can eliminate the Hamas movement or other resistance factions. The resistance front has developed both in terms of presence and strength.”
The relatively tepid outcome of the Riyadh summit, attended by 51 leaders in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), left some disappointed, but others insisting the moral force of the unified support for Palestine shown by the Islamic world would force the US to rein in Israel.
The refusal of the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to engage with US proposals for a long humanitarian pause and longer-term solution, including a future role for the Palestinian Authority, has angered the Biden administration.
In an unprecedented diplomatic push by Iran to force the Gulf monarchies to adopt a more interventionist approach, the country’s president, Ebrahim Raisi, travelled to Riyadh on Saturday, the first Iranian leader to do so in 11 years, in an effort to persuade the Gulf states to take a tougher approach and explicitly back Hamas.
The final OIC communique, however, was long on condemnation and demands for an immediate ceasefire, but short on practical steps to help Hamas.
It called for an end to the sale of weapons and ammunition to Israel
It also called on the international criminal court and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to investigate possible Israeli war crimes, and for more decisive action from the UN security council.
Raisi praised Hamas in his speech, saying: “There is no other way than to resist Israel, we kiss the hands of Hamas for its resistance against Israel”. That view was not shared by most Gulf leaders, but it was echoed by the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He said: “They want us to classify Hamas as a terrorist. No, it is not a terrorist. They are fighting for their homeland and struggling to obtain their rights.”
In the run-up to the Arab League summit, however, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Morocco and Bahrain opposed moves led by Algeria to close down US bases in the region and impose a trade boycott.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says Israel collapsed on October 7, when the Palestinian resistance launched a surprise attack against the regime on October 7, and is now alive on “US’s life support.”
“The world is witnessing the full-scale American war against Gaza,” Amir-Abdollahian said in a post on his X account late on Sunday.
“The Israeli regime collapsed on Oct. 7 and is now alive on American artificial respiration,” he wrote.
Referring to a recent phone conversation with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, the top Iranian diplomat added that he has told his Egyptian counterpart that “today is our test day.”
Cairo is expected to open Rafah, on Gaza’s southern border with Egypt, with the purpose of delivering humanitarian aid, including water and medicine, to the war-stricken people in the Strip, he said.
Israel waged the bloody war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity.
At least 22 hospitals and 49 health centers have ceased operations in Gaza due to Israeli attacks and a shortage of fuel needed to operate power generators.

'Gaza war machine in hands of America': Iranian President on Israel's bombing
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Saturday (local time) lambasted the US, alleging it was the "main perpetrator" and "accomplice" of Israel in the war against Hamas. He demanded the imposition of oil and goods sanctions on Israel for its military actions in Gaza, the Palestinian enclave ruled by Hamas.
Speaking at an emergency joint Arab-Islamic Summit hosted by Saudi Arabia to discuss the ongoing situation in Gaza, Raisi slammed the US for providing military assistance to Israel and claimed that the Jewish nation dropped bombs equivalent to "seven atomic bombs" on the besieged enclave.
"The US government is the main perpetrator and accomplice to this crime. Israel is the illegitimate child of America. It is America that has preferred supporting it over the sacred lives of thousands of oppressed Palestinian children. By immediately forming its security cabinet in the occupied territories, America encouraged the Zionist regime to carry out criminal operations against the helpless people of Gaza and called it legitimate defence," he was quoted by news agency ANI as saying.
"The events in the Gaza Strip are a confrontation between the axis of honour and the axis of evil, and everyone must clarify which path they have fallen into," he said.
He said leaders from the Islamic world had gathered at the summit to "save the Palestinians".
"The war machine in Gaza is in the hands of America, which is preventing a ceasefire in Gaza and expanding the war. The world must see the true face of America," Raisi said.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on leaders of Arab countries to "stand up against Hamas". "It only brought two things to the residents of the Gaza Strip -- poverty and blood," he said.

Iran advances nuclear enrichment while still barring inspectors: IAEA
Iran continues barring several experienced nuclear inspectors, and has enough uranium enriched to up to 60 percent purity, close to weapons-grade, for three atom bombs, according to confidential reports by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The United Nations nuclear watchdog on Wednesday slammed Iran’s decision to withdraw the accreditation of several inspectors, announced in September, as “extreme and unjustified” and said it “directly and seriously affected” the agency’s work
“Iran’s stance is not only unprecedented, but unambiguously contrary to the cooperation that is required,” IAEA chief Rafael Grossi wrote in a report to the agency’s member states.
Iran in September withdrew the accreditation of several inspectors, a move Tehran described as retaliation for “political abuses” by the United States, France, Germany and Britain.
In the report, the IAEA said it received a letter from Iran on Wednesday, reiterating its position “that it was within its rights” to withdraw the accreditation, but was “exploring possibilities to address the request” of the agency to reinstate it.
Grossi expressed “his hope that this matter will be resolved promptly”.

I might have been too optimistic in the previous post. It does not appear that the attack was intended to be as deadly as possible. On the contrary, it appears that Iran was intentionally making it easy for Israel etc. to intercept the drones. it appears Iran merely want to show themselves "attacking Israel" rather than actually succeed in doing so.

They could have easily used the Fatah1/2 hypersonic missiles, which are capable of maneuvering Israel's air defence systems. I think they held back over a fear of nuclear retaliation. Hopefully after becoming a nuclear power this fear will no longer be the case.
