Why companies focus on maximizing shareholder value instead of making quality products and maintaining a healthy/high morale workforce.

3:10 shows what the Dodge logo looked like back then. It explains a lot.

The TL;DW: Henry Ford wanted pay his workers high wages and sell his vehicles at low mark up. The other investors wanted more dividends. Ford was majority shareholder so he decided the direction of the company. Two brothers with the last name "Dodge" took him to court arguing the CEO must look out for that interests of the shareholders and won. The Dodge brothers started their own car company with the dividends from the Ford investments.

I don't see any opinions of Ford ln this site but I'd imagine they're mixed because his actions indicate he's a "Boromir". Manufacturing vehicles for mass use didn't help either.

Metroid Dread

This is a game I have been playing for the Nintendo Switch. It's 2-D! If you liked Super Metroid, you'll like this game. The only con (all Metroid games for that matter) is the theme of exploration.

Recommended!

Techlead is a drop in the bucket compared to the Rothschild family. Still, good on Kira for calling him out.

I recommend Coffeezilla and Spencer Cornelia for content regarding crypto scams, ponzi schemes, fake investment gurus, NFT rug pulls, etc. Amazing that most of perpetrators are not rotting in prison. However, all the victims have one thing in common: They're greedy. They're also stupid expecting >10% returns.

Side rant: Holy ****! The Freenvesting videos are swarming with crypto investor promoting spam bots in the comments!

True Left vs False Left / Re: True Left breakthrough: antinatalism

A next generation exclusively descended from those in the current generation who today have a million dollars would be considerably qualitatively worse than a next generation of the same total number but selected randomly.

And looking into the future, wealth is likely to be increasingly be positively correlated with machinist talent. So allowing only the wealthy to reproduce will increasingly breed a race of machinists. This is a recipe for disaster.

If only the rich reproduced and the poor abstained, the pool of slaves would decrease which would increase the price of each slave. Eventually, the slaves die off resulting in the rich descendants trying to enslave each other. A disaster? Maybe for the them.

https://www.wweek.com/news/2022/02/16/whos-behind-the-portland-billboards-demanding-people-stop-having-kids/

Willamette Week is a "left" leaning tabloid (it's in Portland after all). The first few paragraphs let you know the author is discomforted with this. "First amendment", "white supremacists", and "not a sick joke" give it away. This false leftism is why concentration camps are not being built to house and truly rehabilitate the homeless littering the streets.

Interestingly, the name Goldberg is behind these signs.

Unfortunately, the best article comment I could find is:

If you don't have the million dollars it takes to get a kid from birth through a great college, don't have kids. You're just adding to the problem otherwise! America does not need more of an army of willfully ignorant imbeciles who will willingly become members of q-anon. If you can't afford to educate and enlighten your children for the future, don't have kids!

While on this topic of inflation, here's another thing I do not understand about cryptocurrency: If hyper inflation sets in as it did in the Wiemar Republic, and a loaf of bread ends up costing a wheelbarrow full of cash, won't people who hold crypto coins still have to pay a wheelbarrow full of money for a loaf of bread? You will still be paying the hyper inflated price just like the rest of us, no? So, how is crypto actually a viable option against inflation and hyper inflation exactly, I don't get it?

The crypto currency someone holds may be worth the equivalent of a wad of cash today, but that same amount should be worth several wheelbarrows of cash in a Weimar hyperinflation scenario.

What I myself don't understand is how one would make a transaction at a store with crypto. I don't understand what a store would need to receive crypto. A customer would have to memorize their private wallet key or carry it on a drive and risk losing it. Simply handing over an ounce of silver would get you a bag of groceries.

The energy consumption also goes perplexes me. Is this massive power draw because of the just the MINING? Or would the CIRCULATION be taxing on the power grid?

To me, the best case scenario for crypto is that it becomes like precious metals : insurance from hyperinflation.

From the Aryanism page :

http://aryanism.net/culture/aesthetics/human-beauty/

An example of Christopher Walken's face was used as an example of an Aryan phenotype.

From his Wikipedia article:

Quote
In 1963, Walken met Georgianne Thon during a tour of West Side Story.[76] They married in January 1969. The couple have no children, and Walken has stated in interviews that being childless is one of the reasons he has had such a prolific career.[77]

Is this a coincidence or was this known before publishing the page?

I remember in one of my history/geography classes we role-played as delegates of multiple factions in the Israeli-Palestinian crisis trying to find a solution. I remember the solution was Egypt donating the entire Sinai peninsula for the Palestinians. Far from an ideal solution but I remember debates were pretty heated. I wonder if this is still taking place at my old school today?

This was all back in the mid 90's where I remember Israel was getting quite a bit of not so good press. It's no coincidence that Spielberg cranked out tons of Holocaust material in that decade preceded by Indiana Jones. I also remember watching quite a few anti-national socialist french movies too. Post 9/11, the anti-NS movies had a more comedic tone like Inglorious Basterds which was like beating a dead horse.

China huge crisis: short of childbearing age women/3-child policy is ridiculed by the masses

https://youtu.be/EQRkCTIolcI

Most of the comments are all talking about how the one child policy bit China in the ass. OR, maybe,  it was the culture of it being more desirable to have boys rather than girls for some stupid reason.

Touché about digitized sprites; A point I forgot to mention. Street Fighter the movie the game is another example of those sprites and it sucks. Another point is that the Mortal Kombat controls do feel very stiff compared to regular Street Fighter.

For the record: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is the fighting game I have enjoyed the most.

I recall my peers would often ridicule Nintendo games for being "childish" compared to most of the games that were popular in the post-9/11 era, so I take it as a compliment from them that I was a fan of "childish" games.

Indeed. There are a few reasons for that. In the early to mid 90's, Nintendo and Sega's marketing focused on different age demographics. If you look at Sonic, you'll notice his shoes and "attitude" that catered to the adolescent "hip" crowd.

Nintendo's biggest blunder was to censor the blood in the SNES port of Mortal Kombat to please members of Congress. Like the game or not, Mortal Kombat was definitely a counter culture game at the time.

The other reasons for Nintendo's "kiddie" image are more benign: No first person shooters, more colorful palette, the "purple lunchbox" GameCube, just a lack of graphic violence in general.

I feel like most of these moves by Nintendo were not done to please the kids but to please the adult parents. They didn't have to make violent games themselves, but they could have allowed other developers to publish violent games on their platform.

The film is a typical ZC wet dream that shows Brad Pitt, the archetypal Westerner with a mesomorphic build subduing Bruce Lee's character with ease due to his ectomorphic build and smaller stature, despite the obvious disparity in combat skill.

I remember thinking "WTF' Bruce Lee should have kicked his ass!" when watching that scene.

"Prince of Persia Trilogy"

The 90's 2-d versions were very frustrating to play because of controls and you couldn't react to the traps fast enough because you couldn't see what was on the next screen!

I thought The Sands of Time was pretty good. I liked walking into a giant room and figuring out how to get to the next location. The game was well paced and didn't drag on. The combat was kind of boring though.

Quote
Ah, yes. While everyone else was focused on the Prime series, I ignored it completely and only played Fusion and Zero Mission. Did you play these two?
Quote
I only play the original Legend of Zelda (NES) and A Link to the Past (SNES).

There are plenty of examples of classic franchises that have transitioned to 3-d and have epically failed (Castlevania, Mega Man, Earthworm Jim, Busy, Contra, Monkey Island...) Nintendo has somehow made theirs work.

New 2D Metroid game announced!

Looks good! I hope for a remake of Zelda Oracle of Seasons/Ages like they did with Link's Awakening!

Racist origins of North American tipping culture

https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2019/07/17/william-barber-tipping-racist-past-227361

Quote
You might not think of tipping as a legacy of slavery, but it has a far more racialized history than most Americans realize. Tipping originated in feudal Europe and was imported back to the United States by American travelers eager to seem sophisticated. The practice spread throughout the country after the Civil War as U.S. employers, largely in the hospitality sector, looked for ways to avoid paying formerly enslaved workers.

One of the most notorious examples comes from the Pullman Company, which hired newly freed African American men as porters. Rather than paying them a real wage, Pullman provided the black porters with just a meager pittance, forcing them to rely on tips from their white clientele for most of their pay.

Everytime I express displeasure with the tipping culture, I am called a cheapskate or someone that doesn't empathize with service workers. Nevermind the fact that a lot of service jobs are not tipped.

I don't know if you guys have seen this:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1091768/Hitler-perfect-boss-Former-maid-breaks-silence-charming-dictator.html

I noticed there is nothing about any sexual advances unlike some of the former presidents of the USA. The former maid also says Eva Braun was not pretty up close. Do you guys agree? I couldn't find a good photo.

She also said that Bormann was a pig. I had to look him up. He was one of the guys that stuck with Hitler to the end and committed suicide shortly after him. Any insight on why she may have thought that?
