The fan art has started coming in:

Could we be witnessing the birth of an icon of decolonization in real time?

More and more fan art:

Also, in this interview:

Meng mentions (2:18-2:19) "aogu" as a trait she was trying to express via the dance. Not coincidentally, there is also a Counterculture era song of the same title:

Our enemies report:

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2022/03/11/marvel-accused-of-bowing-to-woke-mob-after-ridiculous-apology-over-new-indigenous-character/

Quote
After backlash over a female Indigenous Conan the Barbarian comic character that debuted last month, famed Marvel writer Jason Aaron (Avengers, Thor, Star Wars) issued an apology and vowed to alter the character’s name and depiction.

Marvel on Tuesday confirmed that a female character who appeared in the latest issue of the King Conan mini-series last month would undergo changes in all the comic’s future printings.

The move comes after the popular comic book publisher faced criticism for the new character who is alleged to resemble the historical Native American icon Pocahontas and carry her reputed name “Matoaka,” which some saw as offensive toward the Indigenous community.

“[D]isgusted isn’t even close to a word for it. how?? how is this okay??” wrote Kelly Lynne D’Angelo, a Native writer. “She was a REAL LITTLE GIRL – to do this her, to us, over and over again… i am just at a loss. disgusting.”

“[D]oes she not deserve rest? reclamation? Honor?” she added. “[Y]ou colonizers make me vom[it].”

Calling the femme fatale “remarkably offensive,” one Twitter user urged Marvel to: “Please listen to indigenous voices.”

“Cancel this book. This should never have been approved,” the user added.

“Hey @Marvel and @jasonaaron, did it ever occur to you that using the name of an actual victim of colonial violence (the kind that is still being perpetuated today against Indigenous Americans) for your male power fantasy comic was insensitive, distasteful, and deeply offensive?” asked another.

“THIS is why we need Native voices writing Native characters. We’re not show pieces to make your world even more noir,” another user wrote. “We’re not here for you to make money off our murders and suicides, even fictional ones.”
...
But not everyone accepted his apology.

“It’s still a hypersexualized, demeaning, misogynistic stereotype of an indigenous woman,” wrote one Twitter user. “This doesn’t let Aaron or Marvel off the hook.”

“Changing the name is not enough,” wrote another. “The comic needs to be pulled for violence and Jason Aaron needs to seriously stop writing about Native Americans. This isnt his first offense. It’s habitual. I will never read Jason Aaron. How he has a job for sub par writing and racism beyond me?”

Aaron has not cut off his fingers, therefore he has not apologized.

Continuing from:

https://trueleft.createaforum.com/news/karenism-(a-k-a-ethnic-profiling-by-civilians)/msg11884/#msg11884

Now we have new exhibit of this ongoing embarassment:

I liked Abrams best when she was calling for blowing up Stone Mountain:

https://trueleft.createaforum.com/issues/statue-decolonization/msg2/#msg2

I would like her even more if she called for blowing up NASA facilities also. Instead, she is doing a Star Trek cameo. Abrams, unfortunately, is just another progressive after all.....

I absolutely loathe Star Trek. Every non-Westerner I know makes fun of it for overly complicating things while simultaneously being boring as hell.

On the other hand, Westerners such as Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, and Steve Jobs all view Star Trek as inspirations.

The worst are the Eurocentrist False Leftists who turn around and in effect accuse those who dislike the ugly looks of Liu/Awkwafina of being Eurocentrist(!). Their reasoning is that "Asians" should force themselves to find beautiful the Western caricature of Chinese looks, or else they are guilty of upholding "Western beauty standards" by demanding that Chinese leading actors look better. Those who fall for this are now absurdly pretending not to notice that Liu/Awkwafina have subhuman faces, thinking that such pretence is displaying "Asian pride", when in reality they are just being useful idiots.

The truly proud are those confident enough to openly call out the Western caricature itself as Eurocentric. Yet they are the ones being labelled as Eurocentrists simply because they prefer more Aryan highly evolved faces on lead roles (regardless of ethnicity). The true Eurocentrists, of course, are those who think "non-white" lead roles are not entitled to be represented with Aryan highly evolved faces.

Liu himself seems to share this worldview. Here he is purporting to "refute" Eurocentric stereotypes about "Asian" sexual dimorphism..by slavishly "proving" that "Asians" are just as masculine as "Whites":

Why "Black" people love anime:

For the record, it goes without saying that not all anime franchises are non-Western. For example, the video mentions Dragon Ball Z. When I watched it for the first time, I instantly disliked it due to the mesomorphy of  the main protagonist, Goku:

The video actually touches on the Westernized side of anime, particularly the Eurocentric caricatures of "blacks" present in certain franchises. This could be attributed to the Westernization of Japan, especially after WW2.

Compare normal Goku with super Goku:

It's not just him either:

This tells you all you need to know about how bad the Eurocentrism is.

Finally more people are noticing the absurdity of the term "Asian":

https://www.yahoo.com/news/stop-calling-asian-salad-104509924.html

Quote
Stop Calling It Asian Salad
...
“I just picked up some Asian salad,” he said. Having not seen said salad, I asked him what made it Asian. “Not mayonnaise,” he said with a shrug.

What came out of the box was a cabbage and lettuce salad with flecks of carrot, scallions, and almond slivers, underseasoned with soy sauce and sesame oil. Over the course of the party, at least three others asked the same question: What makes an Asian salad Asian? We joked about it, but the truth is, this salad hit a nerve. It felt weird being cowed by cold, soggy vegetables, but the longer I sat with it, the more pissed I became.
...
When and why did the Chinese in the name get swapped out for Asian?

I don't know when, but it is because of Eurocentrism.

Quote
Dishes can be inspired and fused together, nothing is truly ever authentic, and I grew up eating and enjoying diasporic cooking. It’s the Asian descriptor that irks me.
...
“Asian salad is my biggest pet peeve in American food media, food blogs, and restaurant menus,” says Pailin Chongchitnant, chef and creator of Hot Thai Kitchen and author of “Demystifying Thai Cuisine with Authentic Recipes to Make at Home” (at Amazon and Walmart). “To me, it represents how Asian people have been treated in North America—as a monolith, as walking stereotypes, and without respect.”
...
“When you’re calling something Asian, what are you really saying?” asks Preeti Mistry, chef and co-author of “Juhu Beach Club Cookbook” (at Amazon). “Calling something Asian doesn’t describe anything and it requires a lot of assumptions because most people would be surprised if they ordered an Asian salad and got something that was full of Indian spices or Filipino flavors, even though those cultures are in Asia. It’s collapsing so many diverse cultures into one word.”
...
In the book, “Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning” (at Amazon), the author Cathy Park Hong gets at the existential core of what being constantly gaslit by the mainstream public can do to a person. The experiences aren’t new. But speaking up about them kind of is. The number of Asian Americans born and raised in the U.S. is larger than ever but many of us grew up constantly pounded by microaggressions that we were supposed to just quietly take. But we’re all grown up now, and some of us are kind of pissed.
...
“Asian salad as a concept highlights the potentially harmful ways people can digest cultures different from their own,” says Divya Gadangi, a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist. “They’re experiencing something flattened and distorted expressly for their consumption, and a lot of the time it’s for some white dude’s gain.”

“The Asian salad aimed to appease the white gaze,” says Gadangi.
...
If you haven’t caught on by now, this article isn’t really about salad, it’s about words and how they matter.

The only historically accurate Asian salad would be a salad from the historically accurate Asia:

such as:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piyaz

Again, this is Xinjiang:

Imagine how bad Sinocentrism would be in an alternate universe where this:

was called a "full Xinjiang breakfast" (and the guy in the background was labelled as being from West Xinjiang). Now you know how bad Eurocentrism is in the universe we actually live in.

More people are unlearning Eurocentrism:

Also from the comments:

Quote
Its really insulting to have these Baizuo/Baka Gaijin tell us the only way to look Chinese/East Asian is to have upward slanting eyes.

Quote
Me: "I thought chun li was always chinese. what would possibly make you think she looks more chinese now?"
Twitter: "her eyes are more slanty"
Me: "dang thats messed up"

Quote
I remember answering to this with the gif of Giorno being stared at intensely like
"What do you mean she Looks Chinese? describe it to me, what are Chinese people supposed to look like?"

Quote
Mans really said "she has squinty eyes so she's chinese now" twitter users are a strange creature.

Of course there are still also plenty of Eurocentrists over there who just don't get it and think praising the new design is "celebrating diversity" (which really means letting "whites" unilaterally caricature everyone else and then everyone else being forced to celebrate these caricatures that they themselves had no input in).

I personally won't be playing SFVI either way because it is in 3D. I have never played SFIV or SFV either for the same reason. Only 2D can truly capture Chun-Li's personality:

“Baizuo” was a right wing dog whistle, back when I was still among rightists. I would cast immediate suspicion on people that use that term. “Baizuo” is basically part of the classic “Wow, lefties are the REAL racists” repertoire

I think it has since been successfully repurposed by our side. It is now a derogatory term used by the woke to refer to performative allyship:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/carmenmorris/2020/11/26/performative-allyship-what-are-the-signs-and-why-leaders-get-exposed/

To me it is clear that this is the sense in which the above commenter was using it. Basically you have:

1) the "white" supremacist who caricatures Chinese as having slanted eyes, and calls them ugly (rightism);
2) the Baizuo/performative ally who reinforces the caricature by performatively disagreeing that they are ugly (False Leftism);
3) the woke who challenges the caricature (True Leftism).

The comments I collected in my previous post are comments which attempt to expose 2), thus practicing 3). For comparison, here is a comment practicing 2):

Quote
And what's wrong with slanted eyes?  I think you're showing a little racism yourself.  She looks less white now, so people are finding her ugly.  Admit it.
