We are dropping the Dilbert comic strip because of creator Scott Adams’ racist rant: Letter from the EditorScott Adams, creator of the Dilbert comic strip, went on a racist rant this week on his Coffee with Scott Adams online video show, and we will no longer carry his comic strip in The Plain Dealer.This is not a difficult decision.Adams said Black people are a hate group, citing a recent Rasmussen survey which, he said, shows nearly half of all Black people do not agree with the phrase “It’s okay to be white.”...this is a decision based on the principles of this news organization and the community we serve. We are not a home for those who espouse racism. We certainly do not want to provide them with financial support.Adams’ reprehensible statements come during Black History Month, when The Plain Dealer has been publishing stories about the work being performed by so many to overcome the damage done by racist decisions and policy.We’re not the first newspaper to drop Dilbert. Last year, according to The Daily Beast, 77 newspapers published by Lee Enterprises dropped it after Adams introduced his first Black character, apparently to poke fun at “woke” culture and the LGBTQ community. We are part of Advance Local, and the leaders in all Advance Local newsrooms independently have made the same decision we did to stop running the strip. That includes newspapers in Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Alabama, Massachusetts and Oregon.

A museum has airbrushed JK Rowling out of its hall of fame and Harry Potter exhibits because of her gender-critical beliefs.The Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) in Seattle, Washington, accused the author of holding “super hateful and divisive” opinions in a lengthy blog post explaining its decision....Explaining the removal of Rowling from MoPOP’s hall of fame, Moore wrote: “For the time being, the curators decided to remove any of her artefacts from this gallery to reduce her impact. It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s what we were able to do in the short-term while determining long-term practices.”

Hospital cancelled my surgery after I complained about transgender nurse...Teresa Steele was informed over email that her operation at the Princess Grace, a private hospital in central London, which specialises in women’s health, had been scrapped as a result of her request that only biological women be involved in her intimate care and later developed an abscess....Emails between staff, seen by The Telegraph, said that they “perceive the patient’s request and rationale as a discrimination on gender and sex against… hospital employees”.At 7.36pm the following evening, which was a Friday, Maxine Estop Green, the hospital’s CEO, emailed her notifying her that “we do not share your beliefs and are not able to adhere to your requests” and therefore the operation was being cancelled.
“I was very traumatised and on the point of collapse following the cancellation,” she said. “There was a sudden and observable deterioration in my health. An abscess that had not been visible on scans only a short time earlier had suddenly appeared. They endangered my life by cancelling that operation. I could have died of sepsis.”...Ms Steele said: “That second surgery has taken me months to recover from. I now have unnecessary deep scarring and my mobility was impacted for months; as a result, I developed a back problem as a knock-on effect of a protracted convalescence. If it was critical to her being alive and she chose to request a different nurse, any delay from that is on her.
And if that nurse cannot be replaced for your procedure team until a later date, then the patient can go to another physician or wait.
That’s like a racist saying “don’t give me that persons blood they aren’t…” yeah… don’t complain about pain if you are the one making things harder.
What the problem with hospitals personnel delaying her surgery? She had a choice and chose not to use it. Let her find another facility to use.

In the interview, David Marchese of The Times asked Mr. Wenner, 77, why the book included no women or people of color. Regarding women, Mr. Wenner said, “Just none of them were as articulate enough on this intellectual level,” and remarked that Joni Mitchell “was not a philosopher of rock ’n’ roll.” His answer about artists of color was less direct. “Of Black artists—you know, Stevie Wonder, genius, right?” he said. “I suppose when you use a word as broad as ‘masters,’ the fault is using that word. Maybe Marvin Gaye, or Curtis Mayfield? I mean, they just didn’t articulate at that level.”
