A lot of people seem not to be capable of understanding what the term "excess stockpile" actually means, I've noticed in the comment sections, even though Leighton defines it well in the above video. The U.S. has NOT sent any weapons from it's own readiness stockpile to Ukraine, only from it's excess stockpile.

I really don’t get it…if you’re low on weapons…why would you promote the fact in a news piece???

Ummm, if you sit back and think on it for a moment before commenting you might arrive at the conclusion that there are lots of reasons to do so actually....

Wagner PMC owner Yevgeny Prigozhin blames the American intelligence services for the appearance of a video with a brutal execution of a Wagner Private Military Company fighter. According to Prigozhin, the victim could have been, I quote, "recruited by the CIA and sent to prison for 27 years in advance in order to infiltrate the PMC and create the conditions for his execution." Prigozhin commented on the video of the murder in the following way: "to a dog - a dog's death." Is the West Running out of Weapons for Ukraine?
Quote
Questions over whether the West could run out of weapons to send Ukraine have been asked since the war began, but how real a risk is it? Will Ukraine's demand eventually exceed the West's supply? And if it does happen, what can actually be done about it?

Shelling On Zaporizhzhia Nuke Plant, Ukraine Calls Talks Push Bizarre, Russia "Destroys Two HIMARS"
Quote
Ukraine’s Mikhail Podoliak has said that the West’s attempts to persuade Kyiv to negotiate with Moscow are “bizarre”. Podoliak added that even if the talks happen, Russia is unlikely to give up territories and will stall any kind of peace efforts. Zelensky also told his Western allies that ending the war with Russia will “not guarantee peace”. Ukraine claims that its forces have killed over 330 Russian troops and destroyed several military equipment in the last 24 hours. Russia’s defence ministry has accused Ukraine of firing shells at power lines supplying Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. Moscow also said that the damage at the nuclear plant will be investigated by experts from the IAEA. UK’s defence ministry said Russia’s withdrawal from Kherson was “conducted in relatively good order” compared with previous retreats.

EU lawmakers name Russia a 'state sponsor' of terrorism | DW News
Quote
EU lawmakers on Wednesday declared Russia a "state sponsor" of terrorism in line with pleas from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"The deliberate attacks and atrocities committed by Russian forces and their proxies against civilians in Ukraine, the destruction of civilian infrastructure and other serious violations of international and humanitarian law amount to acts of terror and constitute war crimes," a press release from the European Parliament stated.

The designation is a largely symbolic condemnation of Russia's actions in Ukraine and beyond. The US government has so far resisted the label for Russia, citing potential unintended consequences under its legal system.

A two-day-old baby became one of the youngest victims of the war in Ukraine, after a Russian missile struck a maternity ward overnight. Former top State Department official Rick Stengel and PBS Newshour Chief Correspondent join Chris Jansing to discuss. “If you're attacking civilian infrastructure that has no military use, like an orphan, it's like a hospital, then that is a clear violation of the rules of war,” says Stengel. “The only good news, although there's no real good news here at all, is that Russia is running out of these missiles. Military experts think that Russia has already used up more than half of their missiles.”

The arrests of those who refuse to go to the frontline were added to this. About the realities of the mobilised men – learn in our story.

Ukraine Marks Anniversary Of Catastrophic Stalin-Era Famine

Quote
Holodomor
The Holodomor (Ukrainian: Голодомо́р, romanized: Holodomor, IPA: [ɦolodoˈmɔr];[2] derived from морити голодом, moryty holodom, 'to kill by starvation'),[a][3][4][5] also known as the Terror-Famine[6][7][8] or the Great Famine,[9] was a man-made famine in Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933 that killed millions of Ukrainians. The Holodomor was part of the wider Soviet famine of 1932–1933 which affected the major grain-producing areas of the country.[10]

While scholars universally agree that the cause of the famine was man-made, whether the Holodomor constitutes a genocide remains in dispute.[11][12][13] Some historians conclude that the famine was planned and exacerbated by Joseph Stalin in order to eliminate a Ukrainian independence movement.[14][15] Others suggest that the famine arose because of rapid Soviet industrialisation and collectivization of agriculture.[16][17][18]

Ukraine was one of the largest grain-producing states in the USSR and was subject to unrealistic grain quotas.[19] This caused Ukraine to be hit particularly hard by the famine.[10] Early estimates of the death toll by scholars and government officials vary greatly.[20] A joint statement to the United Nations signed by 25 countries in 2003 declared that 7–10 million died.[21][22] However, current scholarship estimates a range significantly lower, with 3.5 to 5 million victims.[23][24][25][26][27] The famine's widespread impact on Ukraine persists to this day.[23]

Since 2006, the Holodomor has been recognized by Ukraine[28] alongside a number of other countries, as a genocide against the Ukrainian people carried out by the Soviet regime.[29]

NATO 'advanced air defence systems' will stop Putin's winter missile strategy | Jens Stoltenberg
Quote
"Allies are providing advanced air defence systems and different systems that can both address the threats that are represented by the different types of drones but also cruise and ballistic missiles, and I expect that one of the messages from the foreign ministers' meeting here in Bucharest will be the need to further step up the provision both of air defence systems but also, of course, spare parts, training and ammunition to the different air defence systems, because we need to help Ukraine to defend themselves against this horrific type of warfare."

Steinmeier: "A cease-fire now would mean Russia would keep the territories it has occupied"
Quote
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has condemned Russia's recent attacks on civilians and on gas and electricity supplies in Ukraine.

The former German foreign minister does not see the time for talks about a possible cease-fire yet: "It is also reckless to suggest a cease-fire now, because to establish a cease-fire at this point in time would essentially condone all of the injustice that has already taken place." He added it is too early to talk about security guarantees for Ukraine.

Steinmeier also commented on the demonstrations in many Chinese cities and on his upcoming trip to North Macedonia and Albania."

What went wrong for Russia’s Air Force? SAMs & Drones in modern warfare
Quote
When the war in Ukraine began, there were estimates that Russia would establish air superiority within a matter of days. But 9 months into the war, the skies over Ukraine are still contested. Why have Russia struggled to utilise their air power effectively? And how has the war in the air changed as a result?

We look at how Ukraine's air defences have created a denial of air space, and the history of surface to air missile systems, which has led to a lot of the SAMS in the war in Ukraine dating back to the Soviet era. As the skies have become more dangerous due to advanced SAM technology, we’ve seen the development of new systems to resist air dominance, such as new surveillance and combat drones.
