"What I Saw Wasn't War — It Was Annihilation," Says U.S. Doctor Who Volunteered in Gaza Hospital
Quote
We speak with an American doctor just back from Gaza about the "unimaginable scale" of its humanitarian crisis. Irfan Galaria, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, recently wrote an op-ed for the _L.A. Times_ describing Israel's assault on Gaza's civilians as "annihilation." Dr. Galaria, who has worked in conflict zones around the world, says he and his team witnessed "a collateral humanitarian crisis of an unimaginable scale," involving the "deliberate attempt" to both target civilians with military assault and to deprive them of aid. "I thought I was going to be prepared, but I was not prepared for what I saw," he says.

"What is the world waiting for?": Mourning Gazans react to 3rd US veto over proposed UN ceasefire
Quote
WARNING: Video contains disturbing content. Viewer discretion is advised.

After the U.S. vetoed an Israel-Hamas ceasefire vote a day earlier, a mourning Palestinian man on Wednesday asked: "What is the world waiting for?"

The U.S. has vetoed three draft U.N. Security Council resolutions on the Israel-Hamas war. The most recent two vetoes blocked language demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire. But Washington, D.C., has now proposed its draft resolution enshrining the word "ceasefire."

The draft calls for a temporary ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war linked to the release of hostages held by Hamas and opposes a major ground offensive by its ally Israel in Rafah, according to the text seen by Reuters.

"Everyone has taken part in this crime, from giving the veto right to the U.S, that is taking part in this crime as well, to everyone who failed to support us, from Arabs and Muslims," said Abdulrahman Juma, who lost his wife, daughter, in-laws and four other members of his family in an Israeli airstrike.

In a sane world most of the world would have already invaded Israel weeks ago...

Note False Leftist Kasparian's logic fail at 14:48-14:59.

If Kasparian truly wants to be a good person and not just seen by other westerners as "good", Kasparian needs to develop her own morals around the universal moral code of "do unto others as you would want done unto you", rather than play it safe and accept the ethics of the western collective.

Under the universal moral code of "do unto others as you would want done unto you", it is easy to understand that the original evil act of initiated violence was the occupation of Palestine by Westerners and that all acts of violence against Israel by Palestinians are retaliatory violence. Initiated violence is ALWAYS the original sin. Retaliatory violence is a duty of the oppressed and others harmed by initiated violence. Morals and ethics are literally this simple, yet what do we see coming from the mouth's of most westerners?

Waving white flags, Palestinians trying to flee Gaza City shelled by Israeli army
Al Jazeera has obtained exclusive video of dozens of Palestinians who attempted to flee south from Gaza City this morning and said they were attacked by the Israeli army.

The families made their way on al-Rasheed Street, a corridor the Israeli army has in the past designated for the safe travel of the displaced.

They were shelled by Israeli army vehicles, which they said killed and wounded a number of them. They then fled back to Gaza City, where fighting has been raging for a number of days, particularly in the Zeitoun neighbourhood.

The families carried white flags in an attempt to prevent attack by the Israeli army.

War and Illness Could Kill 85,000 Gazans in 6 Months

Quote

An escalation of the war in Gaza could lead to the deaths of 85,000 Palestinians from injuries and disease over the next six months, in the worst of three situations that prominent epidemiologists have modeled in an effort to understand the potential future death toll of the conflict.

Even with an immediate cease-fire, war-related deaths would continue, according to the analysis. The toll includes deaths of people who succumb to previous injuries or who are hurt by unexploded ordnance, deaths of babies and women for whom complex care in childbirth is not possible, and deaths of undernourished children who are unable to fight off infections such as pneumonia.

What Happens When Evil Wins?
Quote
Over the last five months, we've seen an unprecedented escalation in violence in Gaza. Most people I know feel like they're going crazy. We're all seeing the same footage, but no matter how angry we all get and how much we try to change public opinion, nothing seems to come of it. So...what can we do? Has evil won?

- Has long corruption charges running against its figurehead.
- Proposes new laws that undermine the rule of law, which leads to destabilization of the country and mass protests.
- "Not only tolerates, but encourages" Qatari cash payments to Hamas in a ill-advised divided and conquer strategy and because the Hamas threat helps the Israeli right wing win elections.
- While posing as the defenders of Israel's security, actually underestimates security risks and neglects intelligence that a massive terrorist attack is about to take place.
- Responds to this attack with disproportional brutal violence that brings the local economy to a stillstand and damages the international reputation of the country.
- Has cabinet members who constantly say extremely racist stuff, the finance minister being one of, if not the, worst

- Only complains, complains, complains and complains about being treated unfairly and never admits any wrongdoing, not even when quite logically the country's credit rating is downgraded a tiny bit.

People gather to mourn death of Aaron Bushnell outside the Israeli embassy in DC

Vigil outside Israeli Embassy for Aaron Bushnell, Air Force member who set himself on fire
Quote
People are gathering to remember 25-year-old Aaron Bushnell. He was protesting Israel's military action in Gaza shouting "Free Palestine" as he set himself on fire.

Voices pushed for peace across the Palestinian territory while honoring a man they view as a martyr.

Just before 1 p.m., DC Fire received a call about a person on fire. When they arrived, they found the fire had been extinguished by Secret Service, said Vito Maggiolo, the public information officer with DC Fire.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for critical, life-threatening injuries after lighting himself on fire, according to Maggiolo. A DC Police spokesperson confirmed the man died from his injuries Monday morning.

Police later identified the man as 25-year-old Aaron Bushnell of San Antonio, Texas.

A spokesperson from the Israeli Embassy said “no embassy staff were injured and are safe.”

In a video obtained of the incident, investigators say Bushnell identifies himself as an Air Force member and says, "I will no longer be complicit in genocide” before going on to say what he’s about to do is minimal compared to the suffering of Palestinians.

He then sets a camera on the ground in front of him and pours an unknown liquid all over himself. Investigators say while igniting the liquid, he kept yelling "Free Palestine" repeatedly.

Police also investigated a "suspicious vehicle" it said may be connected to the man who set himself on fire, but the car was cleared at 4 p.m. Police say no hazardous material was found. That car was later towed.

Gaza Crisis: No Bounds to the Horrors Unfolding - UN Human Rights Chief | United Nations
Quote
After almost five months of constant Israeli bombardment and mass displacement in the Palestinian enclave which has left more than 30,000 dead, the UN human rights chief Volker Türk told the Human Rights Council that the prospect of an Israeli ground assault on Rafah would take the nightmare being inflicted on people in Gaza to a new dimension.

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk today (29 Feb) called for an end to the “carnage” in Gaza as he presented his Office’s report on the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT) to the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

“There appear to be no bounds to – nor words to capture - the horrors that are unfolding before our eyes in Gaza,” Türk said.

“Today, the total number of people killed has exceeded 30,000. And tens of thousands of people are missing, many presumed buried under the rubble of their homes. This is carnage, ” the High Commissioner said.

“The war in Gaza must end. Clear violations of international human rights and humanitarian laws, including war crimes and possibly other crimes under international law, have been committed by all parties. It is time – well past time – for peace, investigation and accountability,” he said.

The UN Human Rights Office report makes for very painful reading, Türk said. Thousands of tonnes of munitions have been dropped by Israel on Gaza, including repeated use of explosive weapons with wide-area effects.

“In Egypt's Arish hospital, last November, I saw children whose flesh had been seared. I will never forget this,” he said.

Regarding the possibility of an Israeli operation on Rafah, the High Commissioner said he failed to see how such an operation could be consistent with the binding provisional measures issued by the International Court of Justice.

“Let me be absolutely clear, and issue yet another stark warning. The prospect of an Israeli ground assault on Rafah would take the nightmare being inflicted on people in Gaza to a new dimension,” Türk said, calling on all States with influence to do everything within their power to avert such an outcome.

The report also covers the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, where Israeli forces’ use of airstrikes, attack helicopters, anti-tank missiles, shoulder-fired explosive projectiles and other weapons of war , has continued to increase, with lethal results. From 7 October to 23 February, at least 401 Palestinians in the West Bank were killed, 102 of them children. The vast majority of cases that the Office has monitored raise concerns of unlawful killings, including extra-judicial killings.

Peace in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and in Israel is achievable, but for that to work, the occupation must end, the UN Human Rights Chief stressed.

“Israeli leaders must accept the right of Palestinians to live in an independent state. And all Palestinian factions must accept the right of Israel to exist in peace and security,” Türk said.

“The goal is to achieve a safer, more peaceful future for all, and the war in Gaza is taking Palestinians and Israelis further from that goal every day. There must be an end to these hostilities – not only an immediate ceasefire, but an end to this war. All hostages must immediately and unconditionally be released, and the thousands of Palestinians arbitrarily detained by Israel must also be released,” the High Commissioner added.

Accountability must be served on all sides. A raft of measures to re-establish human rights, equality, accountability and justice must be adopted across the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel.

“Keeping Palestinians and their rights walled off – "out of sight, out of mind" – has not worked in 56 years, and it can never ever work. The core challenge of building peace is for all to see and fully grasp the humanity of the other, overcoming mindsets that have been deeply engraved by generations of harm and rage, and which conceal the truth: that people – Palestinian and Israeli people – are being cruelly harmed,” the High Commissioner stressed.
