PARIS: A 69-year-old man who opened fire at a Kurdish cultural centre and a hairdressing salon in central Paris on Friday (Dec 23) is a retired train driver with a history of racist violence and weapons offences, according to police and prosecutors.

Identified as "William M" by French media, the gunman is suspected of stabbing at least two migrants with a sword in a Paris camp last year, police and judicial sources told AFP.

ALLEN, Texas (AP) — Federal officials are looking into whether the gunman who killed eight people at a Dallas-area mall expressed an interest in white supremacist ideology Sunday as they work to discern a motive for the attack, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press. The official cautioned the investigation is in its early stages.

Federal agents have been reviewing social media accounts they believe were used by Mauricio Garcia, 33, and posts that expressed interest in white supremacist and neo-Nazi views, said the official, who could not discuss details of the investigation publicly and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.

Garcia also had a patch on his chest when he was killed by police that read “RWDS,” an acronym for the phrase “Right Wing Death Squad,” which is popular among right-wing extremists and white supremacy groups, the official said.

At the shooting on Saturday, the gunman was wearing a patch that said “RWDS,” an abbreviation known to stand for “Right Wing Death Squad,” according to one official.

The phrase harks back to Gen. Augusto Pinochet’s violent right-wing regime in Chile in the 1970s and 1980s. The Pinochet government was notorious for assembling death squads that murdered their leftist enemies.

More recently, neo-Nazi groups in the United States and members of other far-right organizations like the Proud Boys have claimed the phrase, and often wear the abbreviation on clothing or patches. The Proud Boys in particular often combine RWDS labels with shirts reading, “Pinochet Did Nothing Wrong.”

Though the writer of the posts suggests several times that they are of Hispanic origin — at one point indicating they are originally from Mexico — there is also a clear embrace of white supremacy. As recently as last month, the account contained a post saying that “white people and Hispanics have a lot in common.”

I hardly need to say that the last paragraph suffices to show that he is no follower of Hitler.

He claimed a former Erasmus professor felt he was "arrogant for not apologising for being late to his useless... class".

Fouad L complained he was picked on by staff at the university and took his frustrations out on a rabbit after being suspended.

Firstly, if the class was useless, he could drop it. Secondly, if he chooses to take the class, he is disrupting it by arriving late and therefore should indeed apologize, therefore the professor's opinion is correct. Thirdly, the rabbit had nothing to do with any of the above, yet he targeted the rabbit for his own enjoyment. This summarizes how rightists think.
