True Left

This is a sign of how far rightwards the False Left has shifted, that a position that used to be primarily associated with rightism in Hitler's time (though, to be fair, some liberals back then would also have shared the position) is now assumed to be primarily associated with "leftism". And with today's rightists - who are becoming less neocon and more paleocon at an alarming rate - being outright hostile to China, the False Leftists are able to set up a false dichotomy between rightists wanting China to fail and "leftists" wanting a Westernized China to "succeed" (by Western standards). Thus the idea that China should despise Western standards has been sidelined.

(And of course there are some self-proclaimed "anti-Western" activists in China who claim to "despise Western standards", but what they really mean by this is they despise the Counterculture era (which they call "Western", while what is actually Western they call "advanced"/"developed"/etc.).)

You should try to be a lot more active on Twitter. With that said, I would be careful with using the term "Orientalist" as it is easily misunderstood. While indeed the historical colonial-era Orientalists were known for ignorant attempts at positively stereotyping other countries, that was a different time when most Orientalists had never personally visited the countries they were stereotyping and probably did not even personally know anyone from those countries, therefore can be excused for their ignorance and even given some credit for good intentions. Today's stereotypers tend to be far more well-travelled and certainly have plenty of acquaintances - many are sexpats FFS! - from the countries they are stereotyping, and hence their motives behind their stereotyping are far less pure to say the least.

I think we can summarize the present attitudes as follows:

Rightists view people of non-Western countries as enemies to be destroyed. [paleocon]
False Leftists view people of non-Western countries as victims to be helped by Westernization. [neocon]
True Leftists view people of non-Western countries as potential soldiers with which to kill Western civilization, provided they become Woke. [SJW]

Further worsening the confusion, rightists often accuse False Leftists of being SJW!
