Agudas Israel Housing Association, who are based in Stamford Hill, were accused of breaking equality laws after listing a property which was specifically for members of their religious community.

A family who wanted to bid on new flats, which were purpose-built for the Orthodox population, were told they were unable to because consideration was only given to Orthodox Jews.
Chief executive of the housing association, Ita Symons, said she “never gave a moment’s thought” to the idea of the organisation losing their battle.
Elliot Lister, solicitor at Asserson who acted for Agudas Israel Housing Association, said: “This is a landmark case in many respects, but for the Orthodox Jewish Community and AIHA in particular, it is profoundly important.

“The court found that what AIHA does and how it allocates properties is a proper response to the needs of the Orthodox Jewish Community.

“This is not about self-ghettoisation and AIHA does not look to exclude others. That suggestion is frankly offensive.

“The court recognised that AIHA was set up for a purpose and accepted that that purpose was to alleviate the special housing needs of the Orthodox Jewish Community which are compounded by overt and increasing anti-Semitism.”

Solicitor Rebekah Carrier, from Hopkin Murray Beskine, represented the family who launched the challenge in court.

She said: “This case arose when we saw advertisements for a newly built block of flats on the website Hackney Council use to decide who gets social housing which said: ‘consideration to the Orthodox Jewish Community only.’

“This was very shocking because it meant that my clients, whose need for safe and appropriate housing was so overwhelming that Hackney Council had given them the highest possible priority for a new home, would be overlooked for this property and others like them in favour of Orthodox Jewish applicants.

“The law requires Hackney to have a set of rules which decide who gets social housing. Hackney has carefully crafted scheme for deciding who gets housing, and it is based on an assessment of need.

Facebook has rejected one of the first challenges to its new rules banning white nationalism.

A Facebook representative told HuffPost that a video railing against nonwhite populations "invading" European and Western countries didn't fall under the company's new ban on white nationalism.

The video, titled "Race Against Time," was posted by the Canadian far-right figure Faith Goldy. Framed as a plea for the conservation of white Europeans, and copying animal-welfare appeals in tone, the video says white populations in countries like the UK, Sweden, Germany, Canada, and the US are being replaced by nonwhite ones.

Toward the beginning of the video, text on the screen reads "European extinction is imminent." Goldy later says: "Non-European peoples are both legally and illegally invading" Europeans' "natural habitat." She also claims that an influx of "non-Europeans" has led to "mass **** epidemics and a spectacle of terrorism."

At the end of the video, Goldy says: "For the simple gift of a wall, or an end to dirt-right citizenship, or pronatal policy, you can symbolically adopt this European." The footage then cuts to a smiling white woman giving an "OK" hand gesture.

Goldy, who in 2018 ran to be the mayor of Toronto, has previously vaunted "ethno-nationalism," and during an interview in 2017 she recited "the 14 words," a popular white nationalist slogan.
However, a Facebook spokesman told HuffPost that Goldy's video did not qualify as white nationalism, nor could it be said to promote or praise white nationalism.

Frustrated by a legal ban on sharing intelligence with Israeli operatives conducting targeted assassinations against Hezbollah, the NSA crafted a loophole giving them total access even to US citizens' data, leaked documents show.

The Israeli SIGINT National Unit (ISNU), the NSA's counterpart in Tel Aviv, convinced the Americans to circumvent the legal prohibition on providing surveillance data for targeted assassinations during Israel's 2006 war with Lebanon, according to the newest revelation from the archives obtained by whistleblower Edward Snowden.
The documents don't include details of what "arrangement" was eventually worked out with the ODNI, but the Israeli military used American data to lay waste to Lebanon's civilian population, much like the tech-enhanced US troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, whose kill-counts swelled with civilian victims after they received access to NSA targeting data.

"Israel repeatedly, and in some cases egregiously, violated the laws of war," Human Rights Watch reporter Nadim Houry told the Intercept, adding that the Israelis "engaged in indiscriminate aerial attacks" and cluster bombing against "civilian infrastructure that was not tied in any way to the armed conflict."

A Consumer Financial Protection Bureau political employee who drew fire for racist blog posts is leaving the bureau, according to an email obtained by Bloomberg Law.

Eric Blankenstein, a policy associate director overseeing the CFPB’s supervision and enforcement division, will depart the CFPB for a new job on May 31, according to the internal email sent May 15.
Blankenstein, who was put into that position by former acting Director Mick Mulvaney, faced criticism from consumer advocates, Democratic lawmakers and even some CFPB colleagues after pseudonymous blog posts he wrote in 2004 emerged last year. Those blog posts included claims that most hate crimes reported by minorities were hoaxes and questioning whether using the “n-word” was racist.

Current CFPB Director Kathleen Kraninger said that the bureau would review those blog posts, but she kept Blankenstein at the bureau. He took part in Kraninger’s listening tour, sitting in on meetings with industry representatives, consumer advocates and civil rights groups, according to multiple sources.

Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee, blasted Kraninger for allowing Blankenstein to resign rather than firing him in a series of tweets.

“Allowing him to resign is a serious moral and managerial failure that sends a signal to consumers that the CFPB will look the other way when it comes to discrimination,”

Additionally, it is instructive to note how rightists report this same story:

A Jew is now a "Jewish guy", bigotry (or when done by Jews what we call backlash herding) is "telling racial truth" (thereby proving that the backlash herding has succeeded!), and not even getting fired for it is "getting crucified".

Swedish Education Minister Anna Ekström has suggested that religious schools are “bad for society” and that stopping them was essential for integration.
The assignment of special investigator Lars Arrhenius is to submit proposals for a total stop to the establishment of new primary and secondary schools which have a religious undertone.
However, there may be one notable exception. Jewish schools are to be exempted from the ban, fellow Social Democrat Civilian Minister Ardalan Shekarabi assured following the criticism from the Jewish Central Council.

This surely belongs here:

Under this legislation, it is forbidden for students or employees of the Florida educational system to have certain perceptions of Jews examples of which include:

1.) calling for, aiding or justifying attacks on Jews.

2.) making stereotypical allegations about Jews including the myth of Jewish control of governments, the economy etcetera.

3.) accusing Jews either individually or as a group which includes the State of Israel for real or imagined wrongdoing by a Jewish person or persons.

4.) accusing Jews or the State of Israel of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust.

5.) accusing Jews of being more loyal to Israel then to the interest of their home nation.

The legislation also includes examples of anti-Semitism as related to the State of Israel including:

1.) demonizing Israel and drawing comparisons of modern day Israeli policy to that of the Nazis or blaming Israel for all religious and political tensions.

2.) requiring that Israel behave in a fashion that is not expected of other democratic nations including focusing human rights investigations only on Israel.

3.) denying Israel the right to exist and its people the right to self-determination

"Nothing in this subsection shall be construed to diminish or infringe upon any right protected under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, or the State Constitution. Nothing in this subsection shall be construed to conflict with federal or state discrimination laws."

So it is also forbidden to point out that the above unconstitutional laws are unconstitutional. Even Orwell couldn't make this **** up.

Remember, the only thing that protects the First Amendment is the Second Amendment.
