In light of this post:
Steve Carell Karen:

“The Office” has come under fire for its portrayal of Asian Americans after an actress spoke out about her experience on the hit NBC sitcom. Kat Ahn, who starred as Amy in the holiday episode “A Benihana Christmas,” recalled her time on the show eight years after its finale, according to the Washington Post. In the episode, Steve Carell’s character, Michael Scott, has lunch at the popular Japanese steakhouse chain restaurant which he calls “Asian Hooters.” He invites two Asian waitresses to an office holiday party, marking one of them with ink to tell them apart. He then shows up at the party with two completely different Asian women. Ahn recalled that a coworker at one of her office jobs following her appearance on the show attempted to write on her arm in a nod to the “joke.” The Korean American actress said in a TikTok video from January that she and another Asian American actress were the “uglier versions” of the actresses that played the Benihana workers. “All asian people look alike— we’re one big monolith and one we’re just one big walking stereotype without any personality or individuality,” she says about the episode’s message. “The whole joke was that all Asians look alike and that’s why Michael Scott couldn’t tell us apart. #problematic”

I wanted to touch the topic of racists playing racist characters. Take this show, "2 Broke Girls", for example:
where Kat Dennings's character makes a racist remark about an "Asian" character, who himself is a stereotypical archetype:

More on Dennings:
Katherine Victoria Litwack was born on June 13, 1986 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.[1][2][3] Her mother, Ellen Judith Litwack, is a poet and speech therapist,[4][5] and her father, Gerald J. Litwack, is a molecular pharmacologist, and college professor and chairman. Dennings is the youngest of five children, including an older brother, Geoffrey S. Litwack.[1][6] Her family is Jewish.[6][7][8][9]

Also to add insult to injury, the actor who plays the "Asian" actually defended his potrayal. But that's not all, check out the excuse that he gave:
Moy co-starred as Han Lee on the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls, from 2011 to 2017. Moy's character was criticized by writer, Andrew Ti,[by whom?] as perpetuating "every possible Yellow Panic stereotype with an actually fairly impressive level of thoroughness"[5] and his use of broken English was characterized as being played "like some sorry minstrel show."[6] Moy responded to criticism by stating that "[w]e’re a comedy, and we often go right to the edge. It doesn’t bother me. I’ve encountered this all my life. I’ve been made fun of all my life."[7] In July 2017 Moy was cast as Zack Smith/Microbe in Marvel's New Warriors on Freeform.[8] While a pilot was filmed, Freeform dropped the series and it was ultimately cancelled after languishing for a year.[9]

What a slavish piece of ****. I've been made fun of too. But did I embrace it? No! I wanted to rip out the internal organs of the bullies!
