Berlin police not sorry for brutal response: 'Violence part of system'Berlin police say 'the use of violence is part of Germany's legal system' in response to claims of using excessive force against protesters at a recent anti-lockdown rally.
Technically speaking, a rally or a protest is a siege of the state, which is initiated violence that effects everyone in the state who does not agree with your siege. The real question should be though: "Is initiated violence part of the system?". I think we would argue here that 'yes', initiated violence is indeed part of the Western system and all Western governments initiate violence against their citizenry, and especially refugees seeking asylum. Considering the latter part of the last sentence it could be argued that all Western governments deserve retaliatory violence, whether it be in the form of a siege, or other means. So, even though I do not agree with this protest, or protesting in general, I do not feel sympathy for any Western government. Having said that, I do not agree with the Jan 6th. attack by rightist insurrectionists on the U.S. Capitol because they are themselves Westerners who would only make Western initiated violence worse had they been successful with their coup attempt. If "anti-violence" was a corner stone of the Western system I would feel different, but it is not, and far from it actually.
I guess we can also thank the police in Berlin for being brutally honest.

If violence is "normal" then expect "normal backlash"
A better way to say it would be to say: "If initiated violence is the norm then expect retaliatory violence.".
