Trump’s team was preparing a list of countries that it could send migrants to should their home countries not agree to take them back.

The list included the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands, Panama and Grenada, the sources told the US news outlet.
...
It remains unclear whether any countries will agree to take in deported, third-country migrants and asylum seekers when Trump takes office again in January.

If the Bahamas can refuse, ,why can't the others?

Also, this should not be only about third-country migrants. If anything, a country has more reason to refuse to take refugees who fled itself, since it is the very country the refugees were fleeing from, duh!

Well done Algeria!

After Algeria returned one of its own nationals who had been deported from France, French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau stated that “Algeria is seeking to humiliate France” and that France...

Algeria sent him back to Paris last Thursday, on the evening of the very day he had been sent, saying that his rights had been violated.

The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it wants “to allow him to respond to the accusations brought against him, to assert his rights and to defend himself within the framework of a fair and equitable judicial process on French territory.”

“The vengeful and hateful extreme right, as well as its patented heralds within the French government, are currently leading a campaign of disinformation, even mystification, against Algeria,” the ministry said.

This is how every country that other countries want to deport refugees to should respond every single time.

@90sRetroFan Apparently there’s more where that came from:

Mexico refuses to accept U.S. deportation flight

The Mexican government has criticized President Donald Trump's unilateral immigration actions, and the landing would have required Mexico's assistance.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum's government has said it opposes Trump taking "unilateral" action to implement restrictive immigration standards — including the reinstatement of a "remain in Mexico" policy that forces migrants to stay in that country while they await adjudication of asylum claims. Flying deportees into a foreign country requires the cooperation of that nation's government, and Mexico declined to give its consent.

Hopefully the current Mexican government remains steadfast on this.

Amnesty would also be essential to restore confidence in the US for those currently outside who once might have considered immigrating to the US but have since been discouraged from doing so by Trumpism.

Woke comments:

Amnesty for immigrants and jail for Maga and ICE.

And return visas for deportees.

This will not be enough. Only willingness to use firearms will stop ICE.

‘We Cannot Turn Them Back,’ South Africa’s Ramaphosa Says After Unexpected Arrival of Palestinians
Quote
Speaking on the sidelines during a Johannesburg clean-up campaign on Friday (November14) , South African President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the media regarding a group of Palestinians who were stranded upon their unexpected arrival in the country on Thursday (November 13).

"We cannot turn them back, even though they do not have the necessary documents and papers," Ramaphosa told media.

"Out of compassion and empathy we must receive them...". What an un-Western thing to say!  ;D

Refugees are international obligations.

It is rare to even hear this said anymore. Ever since it first became clear that there were no consequences for countries (V4, Denmark, Australia, etc.) preventing refugee entry, the world has been acting like no one has a duty to accept refugees. If the standard is not restored soon, the much larger number of people who will be displaced in the future (e.g. due to global warming) will have nowhere to flee to.

More about Sanchez:

Quote
Sánchez criticised Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip during the Gaza war. He promised to "work in Europe and in Spain to recognise the Palestinian state".[100] Along with Leo Varadkar of Ireland, he has been widely recognised as one of the most pro-Palestine voices and critics with the Israeli actions within the European Union.[101][102] Spain officially recognised the State of Palestine on 28 May 2024, with the borders established in 1967, in coordination with Ireland and Norway.[103] On 6 June 2024 Spain joined South Africa's genocide case against Israel.[104] Speaking at the Washington summit in July 2024, Sánchez urged NATO members to avoid "double standards" regarding the wars in Ukraine and Gaza,[105] saying, "If we demand respect for international law in Ukraine, we must demand it in Gaza as well."[106]

In May 2025, Sánchez called Israel a "genocidal state" and said that Spain "does not do business" with such a country.[107] In September 2025, he remarked: "Spain does not have nuclear bombs. We cannot stop the Israeli offensive alone, but we will not stop trying".[108][109]
...
He has been outspoken in criticising the United States and Israel in the 2026 Iran War from early on, unlike many other European leaders who have "tried to assuage Trump with a combination of flattery and accommodation". He said the US and Israeli strikes were "reckless and illegal".[112][113] He said it was "curious" that Russia and the United States are permanent members of the Security Council despite "bringing a lot of instability to the world with the wars in Ukraine and also in Iran".[114]
...
Sánchez voiced support for the European Green Deal and the green transition.[164]
...
Sánchez supports replacement migration to combat the decline and aging of Spain's population.[167]
...
Sanchez and his government have expressed their staunch opposition to nuclear energy, citing that much of the world's uranium comes from Russia
