Cardinal Dolan Reproaches Anti-Migrant Protestors at Closed Catholic School Site - The Good Newsroom

The former school was purchased by the city following its closure in 2018.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan pushed back against anti-migrant protestors who opposed the use of a former Catholic school site as a shelter, WINS 1010 reported Saturday.

Cardinal Dolan hoped that residents would take a more compassionate view of the situation and remember the school’s history. “Most people say ‘These people deserve a place to live, just not here.’ Well no, we all have to take a deep breath and do our duty. You take St. John Villa, thank you, that used to be a Catholic school. Sadly, it’s closed, but the students that went there a century ago, they were asylum seekers,” Cardinal Dolan said in a telephone interview with WINS 1010 radio.

Today's episode is a response to the comments I get about how there must be a god. These usually come from Christians, and they assume that god is Yahweh. Instead of talking about how we know Yahweh is not real, I thought it would be fun to switch it up and compare  10 other gods or deities worldwide. I believe these 10 gods all beat Yahweh in a moral competition any day. So, if we had to have a god, I'd choose one of these over the god of the bible.

Going forward, don’t forget we are in a spiritual war. The enemy wants to shut us up. We know who will win but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t fight.

For millions of American evangelical Christians, supporting Israel is a core part of their faith. They believe Israel needs to exist so that the “end times” prophecies and return of Jesus Christ are guaranteed.

But what does that support mean for people who share their religion but live under Israeli occupation? Dena talks to Palestinian Christians about the evangelical Christian Zionist movement.

As a Catholic Christian, this is very eye opening and can't believe how some Christians have strayed far away from God'ss love because of racism and bigotry.

Jewish groups have criticised Pope Francis and demanded clarifications over his comments that they saw as accusing both Hamas and Israel of "terrorism".

Francis made the comments on Wednesday after meeting separately with Jewish relatives of hostages held by Hamas and with Palestinians with family in Gaza.

Later that day at his general audience in St. Peter's Square, he spoke of the meetings, saying he felt the pain of both sides.

"This is what wars do. But here we have gone beyond wars. This is not war. This is terrorism," he said.

He asked for prayers so that both sides would "not go ahead with passions, which, in the end, kill everyone".

In a toughly worded statement on Thursday, the Council of the Assembly of Italian Rabbis (ARI) accused the pope of "publicly accusing both sides of terrorism".

It went on to accuse unnamed "Church leaders" of not condemning the Hamas attack and of "putting the aggressor and the attacked on the same plane in the name of a supposed impartiality".

At the Palestinian news conference on Wednesday, those who met with the pope said he condemned Hamas' action as terror but also quoted him as saying that "terror should not justify terror". They also quoted him as using the word "genocide" to describe the situation in Gaza.

But the AJC added: "Later in the day, he described the Israel-Hamas war as 'beyond war' as 'terrorism.' Hamas' butchering and kidnapping of civilians is terrorism. Israel's self-defense is not. Vatican, please clarify".

The Italian rabbis questioned the worth of "decades of Jewish-Christian dialogue" if when Jews are attacked the Vatican responds with "diplomatic acrobatics".
