This hearing is worth listening to (at least until you get the gist of what Greg Jacob is saying).
After rescheduling the hearing that was supposed to happen yesterday, the January 6th Select Committee began the third day of its hearings o...
authenticamericandream.blogspot.com

Greg Jacob was Pence's lawyer and was with him during January 6th. He was also the primary person on Pence's team who researched the legality of whether Pence could overturn the election.

Jacob discussed with John Eastman numerous times, and Eastman and Trump were aware the plot to overthrow the election was illegal.

There was also testimony from retired conservative judge Michael Luttig. As far as I can tell, it is a pretty big deal for a conservative judge of his standing to take such a firm and public position on the coup attempt. It is better to read his statements than to listen to him speak. Most importantly, he warns the coup attempt currently being prepared for 2024 is a major threat to America:

Quote
"I have written, as you said, Chairman Thompson, that today, almost two years after that fateful day in January 2021, that still, Donald Trump and his allies and supporters are a clear and present danger to American democracy. That's not because of what happened on January 6th. It's because, to this very day, the former President, his allies, and supporters pledge that in the presidential election of 2024, if the former president or his anointed successor as the Republican Party presidential candidate were to lose that election, that they would attempt to overturn that 2024 election in the same way that they attempted to overturn the 2020 election, but succeed in 2024 where they failed in 2020.

I don't speak those words lightly. I would have never spoken those words ever in my life, except that that's what the former president and his allies are telling us. As I said in that New York Times op-ed, wherein I was speaking about the Electoral Count Act of 1887, the former president and his allies are executing that blueprint for 2024 in open and plain view of the American public. I repeat, I would have never uttered one single one of those words, unless the former president and his allies were candidly and proudly speaking those exact words to America."

Lastly, the Proud Boys had genuine plans to kill Pence and others.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republicans in Texas formally rejected President Joe Biden's election in 2020 as illegitimate and voted in a state-wide convention that wrapped up this weekend on a party platform that calls homosexuality an "abnormal lifestyle choice."
...
"We reject the certified results of the 2020 presidential election, and we hold that acting President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was not legitimately elected by the people of the United States," the Texas party said in a resolution, passed in a voice vote at its convention.

Texas is a major player in U.S. national politics, with 38 electoral votes, the second highest after California. Voters there have backed Republican presidents for the past four decades.
...
According to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll, about two-thirds of Republicans believe the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Trump. State and federal judges dismissed more than 50 lawsuits brought by Trump and his allies challenging the election while reviews and audits found no evidence of widespread fraud.

Following a Jan. 6, 2021 speech to thousands of his supporters in Washington, former President Donald Trump angrily demanded that his staff take him to the U.S. Capitol to press his efforts to block the certification of his election loss to Joe Biden, a former White House aide testified Tuesday.
...
as the president had gotten into the vehicle with Bobby, he thought that they were going up to the Capitol, and when Bobby had relayed to him that 'We're not, we don't have the assets to do it. It's not secure. We're going back to the West Wing,' the president had [a] very strong, very angry response to that. Tony described him as being irate. The president said something to the effect of 'I'm the effing president. Take me up to the Capitol now!' To which Bobby responded, 'Sir, we have to go back to the West Wing.'"

Earlier in her testimony, Hutchinson described how White House lawyers had refused to sign off on a plan for Trump to travel "off-the-record," and drive from the rally to the Capitol, saying that this departure from the president's official schedule would result in them getting "charged with every crime imaginable.”

Trump, however, was undeterred, and escalated the situation inside the limousine, Hutchinson testified.

"The president reached up to the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel. Mr. Engel grabbed his arm, said, 'Sir, you need to take your hand off the steering wheel. We're going back to the West Wing. We're not going to the Capitol.' Mr. Trump then used his free hand to lunge toward Bobby Engel, and when Mr. Ornato had recounted this story to me, he motioned to his clavicles."

Engel, who had been listening to Ornato's retelling of events, did not correct any part of the account, Hutchinson said.

The point I want to emphasize related to this is that it debunks the popular False Left narrative that Trump told his supporters to march on the Capitol without any intention of going himself. The False Left thinks it can win back Trump supporters by portraying Trump as someone who has no emotional connection with his supporters, and is 100% cynically grifting. This reveals a fundamental failure by False Leftists to understand rightist psychology. Trump gets off on crowd worship. He wanted to go to the Capitol to receive more of that crowd worship. It is that simple.

Quote
Trump was furious the Secret Service was screening people at his rally for weapons.

"They're not here to hurt me. Take the F'ing mags away. Let my people in. They can march to the Capitol from here."

Yes, Trump is a grifter. But he is also "white". False Leftists do not understand the second part. Thus to this day they underestimate the danger Trumpism poses. It will not pass. It will not dissipate. Either we physically exterminate all the Trumpists or they eventually they win.

Most Republican Voters Still Back Trump Even After Damaging Committee Hearings
Quote
According to the latest round of polling, even as more and more (non-Republican) Americans turn firmly against Donald Trump, most Republicans still pick him as their favorite for 2024. Even Ron DeSantis' recent surge with both voters and donors isn't shaking the faith of most of the Party, and that could spell big trouble for the Republicans in the next presidential election. They can't win with Trump, but the voters might not be ready to move on, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Ratings Data Shows Fox News Viewers Are Tuning Out During The January 6th Committee Hearings
Quote
According to the latest data from Nielsen, the public is still loving the January 6th hearings, but Fox News viewers definitely are not. The network is seeing a massive dip in overall viewership when they run the hearings, but the audience comes roaring back to the network as soon as the coverage stops. The audience has been programmed to ignore the truth, and that's why we're seeing this phenomenon happen, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Trump's 2020 Coup Attempt Could Get Legal Backing | The Mehdi Hasan Show
Quote
The Supreme Court said it’ll take up a case that could give state legislatures basically unchecked power when it comes to federal elections. We’ve seen that shoddy claim before — it was part of the groundwork for Trump legal adviser John Eastman’s effort to overturn the 2020 election. But now, that coup may have found its legal theory with the right-wing court. Leah Litman and Adam Serwer join Mehdi to discuss.

DOJ Subpoenas Two Arizona Republicans Over Communications With Trump Lawyers
Quote
Arizona was ground zero for Trump's allies attempts to overthrow the results of the 2020 election, and now those involved are paying the price. The DOJ, as part of their ongoing investigation into the fake elector scheme, has subpoenaed two Republican lawmakers in Arizona for their communications with Trump's lawyers during the aftermath of the election. The DOJ is clearly looking for more smoking gun evidence, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Losing: Trump WH Lawyer Backs Down At Last Minute In Jan. 6 Probe
Quote
Donald Trump and his allies are on edge as his former White House counsel Pat Cipollone testifies before the Jan. 6 committee. Cipollone reportedly told former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson that “we’re going to get charged with every crime imaginable” for Trump’s Jan. 6 plot. Though Trump allies have been slamming this as “hearsay,” MSNBC’s Ari Melber explains that some of the committee’s evidence has been limited to hearsay is because “of the very Trump appointees who refuse to explain themselves under oath.”
