@Junito18 “Then at another moment, ‘white’ means anyone descended from Western colonisers, regardless of whether they identify as ‘white’.”
That’s not what they’re trying to say. They have explicitly stated that white-passing people who reject whiteness aren’t “white”, regardless of their genetic makeup. The same way that 90sRetroFan says in their article on Christianity over on the main website that even if Jesus were from a Jewish lineage, he himself would not be Jewish because he stayed celibate (The criticism here seems to be that 90sRetroFan’s views have changed significantly somehow, yet that article is an old one, and it directly mirrors what they’ve been saying here about “white” identity). And related to celibacy, their issue is that it gets messy if the person in question decides to actually reproduce. Let’s take a Jewish person. They claim to reject their Jewish identity, but then proceed to reproduce with another Jewish person, creating even more ethnic Jews, many of which will decide to self-identify as Jewish when they get older, even if the parent continues to not self-identify as such. The person in this example is still functionally Jewish. Even if they aren’t trying to deceive and genuinely claim to not care about Jewish identity, they still ended up directly furthering the genetic imperative of the tribe they say that they don’t care to belong to. Similar logic is being applied to “white” people in this context. What you and 90sRetroFan are ACTUALLY disagreeing on, is what constitutes “rejecting whiteness”
“but for some reason Europeans going to America and building settlements is wrong.”
They never said this either. On the blog and on the forum, they mention that the story of the native Squanto making an attempt to accept the new arrivals and help them secure food is a positive one. 90sRetroFan’s opinion of the First Thanksgiving story is actually uncharacteristically optimistic by left-wing standards. And they also have openly acknowledged the great potential of this narrative of people from the Old World coming to the New World to start afresh with their own religious principles (although the reality ended up being far more disappointing, because most of them weren’t introspective enough to amount to anything more than western Puritans). I also recall over on the blog, a “white” nationalist asking 90sRetroFan if they would let “Europeans” migrate to “African” countries if they wanted to, and 90sRetroFan said yes, to the “white” nationalist’s dismay. 90sRetroFan only “hates” the migration to the Americas, insofar as it was a colonial/“white” supremacist/Manifest Destiny-supporting endeavor. Which is to say, it almost entirely was, but not always. And 90sRetroFan acknowledges this. There’s no double standard to point out here
“And by the way, the transistor, which is the electrical component that modern computers are based on, was invented by a Korean and an Egyptian Arab.”
No. The first working transistors are credited to John Bardeen, Walter Brattain and William Shockley, and before it was actually made, the person who came up with the concept was Julius Edgar Lilienfeld. The two people you’re referring to, invented the MOS transistor specifically
And even if they had been responsible for everything, including both the conceptual phase and the first working physical transistors, that doesn’t really amount to much. Has 90sRetroFan ever claimed that non-whites are incapable of furthering machinism? They have posted the pictures of non-white machinists on this forum, and labeled them as enemies.
90sRetroFan’s issue is that “white” people (including Jews) are still indeed vastly overrepresented in the creation of new machines, regardless of non-white machinists and non-white sympathizers of the West. Whiteness as an identity was fabricated to benefit the certain subset of people that fabricated it. In this context, it makes sense to use data to make extrapolations on the “white” tribe, because even if whiteness itself is a fundamentally meaningless construct, you take on all the burdens of that construct by self-identifying under that construct, or by helping to perpetuate that construct (actually, in this case, 90sRetroFan wasn’t even using their own data. They were using the data of white tribalists, against white tribalists).
Also, “white” tribalists use data to make extrapolations on even people who may not self-identify as “black” for example (which is another concept that was fabricated by the same exact people who fabricated whiteness) . Our data extrapolations are not intended to be used against white-passing people who genuinely reject the concept of whiteness. We perceive people on a case by case basis. Ethnotribalists on the other hand, use their data to say things like “Stereotypes exist for a reason”. They’re so far gone, that they don’t even make an attempt to seem like they treat people fairly, or on a case by case basis. I think it’s fine to critique the use of data here, because constructive criticism should always be welcome here and I’m open to it, but there’s a fundamental difference between how 90sRetroFan typically uses data, and how white tribalists typically use data
